Let me tell you a story about FINDING YOUR PURPOSE (before we go into the O so amazing thing that happened this week…) 5 years ago I was working in the best and most beautiful clinic in Melbourne, but I wasn’t fulfilled… I was working with a HUGE range of health problems, from fertility issues to autoimmune muscle aches. I often felt icky inside, not that I couldn’t help these people, but I didn’t have the time or experience to give them the *absolute best* plan. Perhaps you’ve experienced what that’s like, knowing you *can* do the thing, but something in you feels off about it? One day I heard Oprah on a podcast say, “What’s the secret to my success? I lean into his grace, because life is always talking to us.” Life was whispering, “No. Not this way.” When someone walked into my room with anxiety, I felt 🔥 inside my soul. I knew I could help this person and I knew I could do the BEST job for them. I knew anxiety intimately. It was like something else was carrying me along, dropping me into the flow of my life’s river, following the feeling of “Yes, this feels good, go this way!” That lead me to create the Anxiety Reset Method, to become an expert in one area, with a process I know without a doubt, produces results for people. It lead me to write my book, which is now available in different parts of the world including the USA. Looking back, it appears that I knew all along I was meant to do this work with anxiety, but I want you to know: it was much SUBTLER than that in real time. It was a nudge, a whisper, an icky feeling 🥶 or a 🔥 in my belly feeling, telling me which direction to go. Cry, cry, cry, shake a little, scream into a pillow and cry some more, please. Thank you 😇 Promise, it will feel SO good. We have to turn this deeply harmful narrative around that emotions are weak, or a sign of being out of control or that you’re crazy or mentally ill. Emotional backlog is a huge piece of the pie contributing to chronic anxiety… A lifetime of holding in the tears, trying not to cry, holding in the cortisol and stress at the same time… It’s making us sick in all kinds of ways; hormone imbalances, gut issues, fatigue, random symptoms… But the resistance we have to feeling our emotions is so insidious… We have many ways to protect ourselves from diving into that perceived “pain” (even though feeling our feels is our natural, built-in secret sauce to help us feel amazing, calm, regulated and cope gracefully with life’s challenges)… Often, we don’t even realise we’re doing it, blocking ourselves off from feeling. A few weeks ago, life was life-ing and I had a very anxious day. I was waiting on some big, unknown news. It was a lot on my nervous system and body. So here’s what I did to regulate, soothe and recover: 1. Cleared my schedule to take the pressure off where I could 2. Hummed songs to myself to trigger my vagus nerve and activate a parasympathetic response (plus it was a bit fun too) 3. Lay down for 10 minutes to allow my cortisol levels to balance (taking pressure off my adrenals to keep my blood volume steady) 4. Drank a glass of water with a pinch of Celtic salt 5. Ate something even though I wasn’t hungry for lunch 6. Responded to a few messages and emails when it felt right to do so 7.
