Traveling to a conference, even if you think it’s going to help you personally and professionally isn’t an easy decision to make. You have to weigh the costs on both your time and your wallet. I’ve been going to fitness conferences for years, and while some event ticket prices seem low at face value (under $500), folks don’t take the time to consider all of the other costs like transportation while there, meals, and other potential expenses. With the Real Coaches Summit, I got you covered. With beautiful rooms at Caesar’s Palace for under $200 a night, you won’t find a better deal. Vegas airport is one of the easiest and most convenient airports to travel to, with direct flight very often under $500 round trip. Once you arrive, you can literally leave your wallet in the room and just enjoy all of the event has to offer. So while the ticket prices for Real Coaches Summit may seem higher at face value as compared to other events, you’ll actually spend less overall with everything being much more convenient and thought of for you. First tier presale tickets are more than half sold. Grab your ticket today! And even at the full price of $998, it’s till a better value than most events out there. Why not take a tax deductible trip to hang with your peers, get away from work for a few days, get a break from your kids for a few days, and come back recharged, smarter, and more confident about your vision as a coach than ever before!!! See you in April! #4weeks2thebeach

While running a 5 k on a treadmill, I had plenty of time to look around and observe to keep my brain busy. Here are just a few of the things that I noticed. I’m not being mean or critical or saying that these folks are bad or stupid or lazy. I’m simply making observations and assumptions based on observing individuals performing a variety of movements during the 33 minutes I was running. Many of the issues I spotted are very common. But here’s the thing, maybe some of these folks don’t have the intention of training that hard that day because of a myriad of valid reasons. Maybe they’re brand new in the gym. Maybe they were rushed because of stressful circumstances at home and in the gym. But let’s assume everyone I observed was trying to improve their fitness, their health, their knowledge, etc, then the list I made above is where someone would start to make changes in order to improve the quality and efficacy of their workout. #4weeks2thebeach

Does food tracking cause eating disorders? Does food tracking exacerbate existing eating disorders? Is it completely fine? I fall into the “it depends” category, but tend to lean heavy to tracking as a very valuable tool. Without context, we don’t have understanding and without understanding, discourse is unproductive. Where do you fall? #4weeks2thebeach

I’m kinda lying because certain actions like eating fewer calories than your body needs and expending more energy are direct contributors to fat loss. But the point of this post is that these actions collectively aid in weight management, fat loss, increased muscle/strength, improvements in mental health, but they all have to become rooted in your daily routine.when they become a part of your routine, you never stop doing them which makes it much more likely to get and sustain results. Oh, and the cold plunge by itself does NOT contribute directly to fat loss. It’s just one of those hard uncomfortable things that you do that makes you more stress resilient which makes other hard decisions down the road easier to make. #4weeks2thebeach

“A diet” is a planned self imposed calorie restriction with the goal of losing fat. “Your diet” is how you eat on a daily basis. Your tastes, preferences, meal frequency, meal timing, meal composition, etc. Unfortunately many adopt better eating habits or training habits with very specific and short term desires to change how they look, often ignoring how those improvements make them feel. And when they don’t achieve their desired results in a fast enough manner, they immediately suspend those habits and go back to the old habits that led to their original frustrations. I’m here to tell you that eating well and exercising are non negotiable. They not only preserve your physical and mental health, they contribute to the improvement of your quality of life on a daily basis. So if nutrition and fitness are something you continue to pick up and put down, you’ll remain frustrated for a life time because they just aren’t a part of your life and they’ve become optional. #4weeks2thebeach

Fat is gained by the general and consistent over consumption of calories. And it’s usually not carbs specifically that you’re over consuming. Because it’s hard to imagine a world in which you’re mindlessly eating fruits or veggies or potatoes or rice. It’s most likely things like chips and crackers and cookies and pastries. Very generally speaking, folks that have high amounts of visible fat and low amounts of visible muscle mass will have a much lower tolerance to calories and carbs. Why? Because they have less active tissue (muscle) and more fat (stored energy). So let’s be careful making claims about where the issues are coming from when you haven’t done a good or consistent enough job of auditing your own eating behavior to see these very simple facts. #4weeks2thebeach

It’s all a matter of perspective, as well as identifying what’s most important to you in the current moment. Folks don’t spend enough time re-assessing. Because your goals evolve as you do. And you may get to a place in your life where you desire more balance which Means not being as involved or wrapped up in the nuance or details of nutrition and fitness by taking your foot off the gas slightly. Which by the way is completely fine! The only pressure we feel when it comes to our body looking a certain way is the pressure we impose on ourselves by the narratives we have in our head which are shaped by years of social and parental and other conditioning. It’s not easy to shed this baggage and accept and love who we are and where we’re at, but years of trying to be the leanest and the most aesthetic version of myself has taught me those efforts are not worth it if you’re not comfortable with yourself from the inside out. We should always be eating well more often than not and taking care of our fitness because those things contribute to our quality of life. But obsessing over how we look especially when we realize the amount of effort and sacrifice it takes away from other parts of our life is an exhausting endeavor. #4weeks2thebeach

Please don’t get your panties too bunched up from this. I’m not invalidating or minimizing eating disorders even if you may perceive that to be the case. I’m also not minimizing or invalidating cancer. But what I am expressing is that when you have a positive or neutral relationship with the food scale, it can be a very productive tool. And that worrying about cancer causing agents in your food before understanding how many calories you’re consuming versus how much you should be consuming is majoring in the minors. #4weeks2thebeach

There is nothing wrong with snacks if you’re having them intentionally, with a plan, and they’re composed of foods that leave you feeling relatively full. But most of the time snacks are after thoughts and convenience foods being used in a grab and go setting which can leave folks feelings hungry and unsatisfied. Controlling hunger is how you control your calorie intake and controlling your calorie intake is how you manage your weight. In my experience, an average person will snack on things like nuts at the office candy or nut bowl, with no portion control in mind. Or folks will lean into things like protein bars which aren’t always the ideal choice given their ingredients and macronutrient profiles. And to reiterate, this is not to say that snacking or nuts or protein bars are why folks gain fat, but it’s the perpetual OVERuse of snacks instead of planned meals that can set someone up to be hungrier than they should which will potentially lead to later overconsumption. #4weeks2thebeach
