The 2025 low spend year challenge exceptions 💵 These are the luxuries/extras that I’ve decided are too important to me to cut out and why I’m doing a low spend year instead of a no buy year. When it came down to it there were some things I just didn’t have the discipline to give up: * 1 takeaway and 1 meal out a month
I mentioned this in my rules video; going cold turkey on convenience food would be too hard. * Fitness, health and exercise
Some people cut out gym memberships and exercise at home/outside during a low spend year but I’m not motivated that way. To keep me physically and mentally happy I’m keeping my ClassPass membership and will be allowed to spend money on swimming, hiking, cycling etc. * Brows, hair and nails
There was no way on gods green earth was I going to give up builder gel nails and brow lamination. I would look like a goblin. * Anything Bobo needs. This is an obvious one/more of a necessity than a luxury but worth including. * Holidays
I debated this one for a while. I didn’t go abroad in 2024 to pay back debt which was the right thing to do but now a sun lounger and 30 degree heat is calling my name. * Cineworld unlimited membership
This is paid for with Christmas money but definitely a luxury subscription that I felt needed including. So what do you think of my exceptions? I know a lot of you were worried I would be too strict on myself; do you see enough treats here? Have I missed anything? Let me know 👇🏽 #lowspendyear #nospendyear #debtfree #debtfreecommunity

The rules for my 2025 low spend year challenge 💰 Why? Because I can. Straight away I want to acknowledge that choosing a low spend year is an absolute privilege and that a lot of people can’t cut back further. When I’ve looked at my spending (auditing your own finances honestly is v v enlightening) I’ve noticed there are lots of ways I spend that just aren’t necessary. If I cut back on them for at least a year, I could transform my finances and end up be more secure and financially stable. How? Well this is where my list of rules comes in: (There are exceptions and I’ll be doing a second video on those) ❌ No alcohol I spend on average £1,500 a year on nights out, trips to the pub, buying booze in. I’m already 3 months sober for health/mental health reasons so I want to see if I can carry that on. ❌ No clothes shopping I have massively cut this back in 2024 but it’s still by far one of my biggest areas of impulse buying. ❌ 1 takeaway a month/1 meal out a month This one will be the hardest for me. I am such a sucker for relying on convenience food and this will take a lot of discipline to be food prepped and eat what I have at home. I nearly said no takeaways/meals out at all but I know I’d break the rule so what’s the point. ❌ No silly little coffees I’ve been cutting back on these for the last couple of months. Me and my thermos are about to become very good friends. ❌ No additional food shops My budget for food each week is £30. I have to stick to it. ❌ No new make up or toiletries I suppose there is a caveat here that I’m an instagrammer and I do get sent products to try but I won’t be able to buy new things unless mine has run out ❌ No unnecessary travel ❌ A low spend year does not mean my friends and family pay for everything This was the biggest thing I took from Michelle McGagh’s book about her own No Spend Year. No one likes a scrounge. What do you think? Do you think I’ve missed anything? Do you think I’m cutting back too much? Let me know and follow along for weekly updates on what I spend and if I break any rules 👇🏽 #lowspendyear #nospendyear #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #nospendchallenge #nospendyear #savingmoney

Bobo’s first wagon ride 🐶 🥹 Full transparency, he tried jumping out quite a few times. The thing about Bobo is that he doesn’t realise he’s 12 and a half years old or that he has to take it easy because of his arthritis. He just loves exploring so I thought by getting him a wagon I can take him a bit further than our backyard. For his first adventure he went to @prept_york for treats and butt scritches and saw his friend Nat at @chineselaundry_york . A handful of people came up to us in the street to meet him which Bobo loved. He’s a gorgeous boy who loves attention ❤️ #adoptdontshop #adoptdontbuy #doglover #staffy #staffygram #olddogs #olddogsofinstagram

Hi my name is Tabby and I am a sourdough whisperer because LOOK AT THAT LOAF 🍞 Not to sound all ‘5 years ago’ but I am now a sourdough fanatic. I’m chronically online and sourdough has taken over my algorithm on the other app so I had to get involved. I had zero expectations for how this was going to turn out and it ended up being an absolute smash. I’ve eaten half the bread already. Don’t need any tips because I’m a natural professional 💁🏻‍♀️ jk share away. I used BBC Good Foods for the starter recipe and @anna.wilson.x process and recipe for the loaf. Her substack is really helpful. #sourdough #sourdoughbaking #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughclub #sourdoughlove

Come work in London with me 🚂 Even by my standards today was hectic. There are lots of ways I could make my life ‘easier’ but I’m trying really hard not to let the travel disrupt my routine so bringing my own food and exercising whilst I’m away is really important to me. @soulcycle_uk classes are really fun and Mondays are Taylor themed so it’s worth squeezing it in. Plus I get to run around London like I still live here 💁🏻‍♀️ YRK > LDN KX > LDN PADS > SOHO > LDN PADS > BR TM It’s a good job I like trains. p.s. I filmed an hour and 10 minutes worth of footage for this 1 minute 20 vlog. Must do less next time 😅 Let me know if you like these vlogs and I’ll keep em coming. #dayinthelife #cometoworkwithme #londonlife #workinginlondon #lifestyleinfluencer

[pr product] Trying on my @thrift_plus_uk haul 👗 There are a couple of alterations I’ll do to make these ✨ perfect ✨ and I’m going to need a second person for the zips on the dresses but amazingly, everything fits. Which is your favourite? Ignore the crappy lighting. Bring on summer! #preloved #prelovedfashion #rewearingiscaring #officewear #officestyle

[pr product] Shopping pre-loved with @thrift_plus_uk for the first time 🛍️ Just so you all know, when Thrift+ got in touch to ask if I would like credit with them, they expressly said there is no expectation/requirement to post. However, I chuffing loved it so I am now going to film 100 videos singing their praises because this was so much fun. Thrift+ is like proper charity shop shopping, with actual bargains, and you can search by what you’re looking for, brand or size. You only pay postage once instead of multiple times when you buy preloved from other resale sites/apps. Dead happy with the quality and there is so much choice on the website I could have scrolled forever. Fun fact; Warehouse has always been one of my favourite brands. I remember the tote bag days and low rise jeans first time round. I worked for them 2012/13 and the £2 grey dress I got in this haul was a best seller that year. #preloved #prelovedshopping #thrifting #thriftshop

After what can objectively be described as a shit show of a year I thought I’d share why I’m not claiming that. I’ll never forget the big moments of pain and loss so I chose to remember the small moments of joy. By writing down my ‘highs’, I chose to be proud of myself over and over again. Because in spite of everything; I did that ❤️ Here’s to 2025. #newyear #griefjourney #motivationalquotes #journalinspiration #journalling

Leftover pie recipe 🥧 A different and interesting way to eat your Christmas leftovers that you could use for any roast dinner or Sunday lunch all year round. I’ve eaten 3 portions of my leftover pie (with cauliflower cheese) and the rest has gone into the freezer for later. This recipe makes my budgeting gal heart happy. I already had the ingredients for the pastry so this was ‘free’ for me. If you were to buy the pastry you’re looking at between £1.50-£2.50. You’ve already paid for the leftovers so you have at least 6 meals for around 40p each. Would you give this a try? The recipe I used for the pastry is a basic shortcrust pastry from @goodfoodeveryday . I hadn’t heard of leftover pie before so thank you to my mate Kendra’s husband Stu for the inspo👏🏽 #leftoverrecipes #christmasleftovers #budgetmeals #budgetinguk #easyrecipes #easymeals
