highlights from week one in peru… 🇵🇪🏞️🦙🛖🌈 from quad biking up the famous rainbow mountain [a gifted activity that we organised with @getyourguide 🧡] & hiking the very top bit which stands at over 5000m above sea level (which isn’t far off the altitude of Everest base camp we found out afterwards!! makes me feel better about suffering with crazy altitude sickness this entire week) to sailing on the highest lake in the world at Lake Titicaca in Puno and visiting the communities that live on the islands here, to visiting Arequipa’s old town & it’s beautiful Colca Canyon. I just LOVE this trend!! 🥹 I’d mainly wanna tell her to be kinder to herself, those years in your hometown don’t have to define you. I know she’d think older me was pretty cool, and I feel proud of both of us. ⬇️ one to save if you’re planning your own Costa Rica & Colombia route!! 🇨🇷🇨🇴🙏 • We knew we only really had about 3 weeks to split across these two countries because of the rest of our itinerary, so this is how we split out time, and honestly for us, this felt perfect! If I was going to change anything I’d maybe lose a night in San José and add it on to Santa Teresa just because I loved the laid back-beach vibes here! Otherwise though, this felt a good amount of time in each location while moving pretty quickly but still seeing everything we wanted to! 💛🏝️🗺️ • In terms of actual travel, we used internal buses & private transfers within Costa Rica, and local buses and then internal flights within Colombia (partly to save time, partly because the internal flights were very cheap and saved on an overnight bus which I’d heard sketchier things about) - all of the above was super easy to organise & we didn’t book any of it ahead of time other than the flights in Colombia! my main takeaway from our time in Colombia is that: people’s stereotypes of this country are mainly wrong!!
