Why is Plyometric Training Effective for Adults Over 40? Aging naturally brings a decline in muscular strength, bone density, and neuromuscular function. This can lead to an increased risk of falls, fractures, and a general loss of independence. However, engaging in plyometric training can help mitigate these effects and even reverse some age-related declines. ✅Improves Muscle Power and Strength ✅Enhances Bone Density ✅Boosts Balance and Coordination ✅Promotes Cardiovascular Health ✅increases muscle mass (which reduces the risk of sarcopenia) As you get older, speed of muscle contraction decreases. This slows down how fast your muscles can get you to move, whether that involves getting out of a chair or stopping yourself from falling. Some studies have shown that if you’re unable or unwilling to jump, you’re at a higher risk of falling.

When was the last time you ‘hung’ around? I’ve been promoting hanging for a couple of years now with 1 minute hanging challenges. Start with short sessions, regularly, and you’ll see improvements fast! Note of advice to avoid blisters: ❌ don’t even think about gloves 😅 ✅ place the bar into the crease between fingers & palms ✅ grip as hard as you can, as if you’d like to break the bar 💡Slipping creates blisters, use some form of ‘chalk’ if you have dry/ sweaty hands. You can find studies online that say: The main finding of this study was that decreased grip strength in adults was associated with an increased risk for all-cause mortality. Using five different measures of grip strength, we found similar non-linear inverse correlations. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-024-80487-y Grip strength has been proposed as a biomarker. Supporting this proposition, evidence is provided herein that shows grip strength is largely consistent as an explanator of concurrent overall strength, upper limb function, bone mineral density, fractures, falls, malnutrition, cognitive impairment, depression, sleep problems, diabetes, multimorbidity, and quality of life. Evidence is also provided for a predictive link between grip strength and all-cause and disease-specific mortality, future function, bone mineral density, fractures, cognition and depression, and problems associated with hospitalization. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6778477/ Also: my aim is showing anatomy in action. It’s just a bare back. I’m hoping the activation of my muscles inspires you to activate yours. 🫶

Pistol squats are an amazing feat of leg strength & mobility. Pistol squats mainly work your quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, and core. That's a huge chunk of your body. However, the most intense work is done in your hips and thighs. If they’re challenging for you, you can use this wall drill with a foam roller to strengthen your quads! 💡 Benefits of the Pistol Squats: ✅Isolation of each leg for balancing strength deficits ✅Full range of muscle recruitment ✅Improves the posterior chain strength ✅Increase general flexibility and mobility along the posterior chain ✅Increases ankle joint mobility and flexibility ✅Improves balance
