Comment Berlin and I’ll DM you with all the info 👇 I’m super excited to be teaching 4 workshops in Berlin! ⏰EARLY BIRD PRICES END 15 DECEMBER⏰ 22-23 February 2025: - INTRO TO CREATIVE SEQUENCING — how to get out of a rut and bring novelty (which the brain needs!) to your asana practice for more resilience and…maybe even inner peace ✌️ - HANDSTANDS AND THE BRAIN part 1 — this workshop is about using what we know about the brain to handstand confidently AWAY from the wall! - HANDSTANDS AND THE BRAIN part 2 — more brain-based approaches to handstands where we’ll learn how to bring the visual system and inner ear to our practice to improve handstands - WELCOME THE WOBBLES — learn how to build your “balance muscles” to not only balance better, but improve your overall stability and posture, for now and for longevity! It’s going to be SO MUCH FUN!! I can’t wait to see you there. #yogaberlin #yogaworkshop #yogadeutschland #brainbased #yoga #neuroyoga #yogatutorial #handstandworkshop

That got dramatic 😆 … But let’s say you end up in pain when you go for a walk. That doesn’t mean walking is inherently bad for you. It means something about the way you’re walking is creating a threat response in your brain 🧠 If you begin to think of any adverse affects of movement and exercise as a way your brain is telling you, “something needs to change” then you can bring a sense of curiosity and mindfulness to your movement to discover “how can I reduce this threat response?” Nausea, dizziness, fatigue, loss of mobility, and pain are all ways your brain may be trying to tell you to change something. But believe me, your brain NEEDS you to move. Just maybe move differently. 🙃 To me this is a huge reason to change how you move. Variety brings resilience and it helps unlock things you didn’t know about yourself. Every month on @movewithadell I upload 4x guided sequences (that are packed with variety) on a different focus: 1️⃣gentle stretches, 2️⃣balance 3️⃣fast dynamic movements, and 4️⃣ strength. 💛LINK IN BIO 💛 I’m also co-teaching this concept in a 60-hr #YTT in April — a few spots left!! 🧡LINK IN BIO🧡 What kind of movement is your medicine?? #neurology #neuromechanics #neuroyoga #brainbased #movement #yogainspiration #movementismedicine #movewithadell #movewithintention #breatheinbreatheout

😁 this will be a “before” video one day. But THE WORK WORKS. It may not seem like much but just two months ago I couldn’t go this deep, and I had a 0% success rate at not falling. This shape also scared me, because I hurt my low back years ago trying it and my brain remembered that and gave me fear as a way to protect me. But I’m the kind of person that moves towards the things that scare me 🤷🏻‍♀️ I started with an eye-opening session with @darin.yoga where I saw where many of my weaknesses were 🙏 I took drills from Daryna and applied them together with my FAVOURITE under appreciated drill: REST (I did a video on that not too long ago) — this ☝️ happened after TWO WEEKS of not practising any Mexican handstand drills but instead carrying on with yoga and gym. Do the work. Rest. Repeat. 🤌And remember: the work may be handstand drills. ✌️Or it may be learning to have emotionally vulnerable conversations. 🤟It may be learning to listen to people who’s opinions don’t align with yours. 👊 But practice (+ rest to let it integrate) makes progress. #handstand #handstandpractice #handstandchallenge #handstandtraining #inversionjunkie #yogaoffthemat #discipline #restisproductive

You get good at what you do repeatedly! And so we can also get in the habit of being push-overs, letting bullies like gRaViTy get their way. I say let’s stop being people pleasers and fight back! At first you may not get longer hang time, but I promise you’ll feel your muscles working in ways they weren’t before 💪 Then it gets easier as you build a habit of 💪fighting💪 instead of 🫥relenting🫥 We can build new habits of saying “no I won’t put up with this anymore, I am fighting for what is right” Too many of us (myself included) are simply too nice sometimes. And then bullies get their way. It doesn’t feel natural to fight back because WE’RE NOT USED TO IT. Let’s get used to it! Small incremental steps add up to lasting change ✊ Am I still talking about handstands now? 🤔 I’ll let you decide #handstandtips #handstand #handstandeveryday #handstandpractice #fightforit #betterbalance #muscleactivation #activism #nobodyisfreeuntileverybodyisfree

These are my top handstand tips (based on teaching handstands to people of all levels for over a decade): 👀 look at the floor somewhere BEHIND your wrists. If you’re looking towards your fingers, you’ll 🍌 banana back. If your eyes are going all over the place, you’ll be disoriented. Your ears should be between your arms. 🖐️ put your weight in the knuckles of the hands; not the heel of the hand. This is better for the wrists and lets you use your fingers gripping the floor for better balance 🍃 FALLING IS A SKILL. You must learn to fall out of handstand or you’ll be stuck on the wall or half-heartedly kicking up forever. 🧱 yes use the wall, but don’t let it do all the work. The wall should be a tool to help you not have to do alllll the balancing on your own while you train your body to hold that shape. 👂 push through the shoulders: deltoids to ears!! This helps you recruit more strength and will enable you to get your arms in that overhead position better. Practice dead hanging from a bar if this movement feels super unavailable to you. 🧑‍🏫 work with a coach if possible: it’s super hard to avoid bad habits on your own. A coach who can spot you well will help you feel where your body is meant to be (proprioception) ⏱️ put in the time. A lot of handstand balance is simply spending time on your hands to get your brain used to being upside down, and your upper body used to holding you. Nothing can replace simply kicking up as often as possible. Please save and share this! And come to my handstand retreat ☺️ Learning handstand is a whole journey. A marathon not a sprint. But it’s sooooo enriching!! #handstandtips #handstandpractice #handstandtutorial #handstandlove #handstand #inversionjunkie #handstandtransition

I see this all too often! I get it — you’re excited! But for the love of good habits, don’t let fatigued muscles create unhelpful movement patterns If repetition builds mastery, then make sure you’re not repeating saggy, floppy handstands It can be SUPER helpful to train into fatigue and push into discomfort zone to build stamina — WITH GOOD FORM. But as soon as you can’t hold stability anymore, it’s time for THE REST DRILL. Obviously using this drill on its own won’t help you get a handstand 😜 This MUST be used in conjunction with other drills 💊 Oh heyyyyy it’s another metaphor for life: rest and take a pause before you do something stupid 👏 (I say this with love) 🫶 #restisproductive #handstand #handstanddrills #handstandtraining #stamina #yogatips #asteya #handstandtips

How cool would it be to hang out for a week in sunny Morocco doing handstands? How….REBELLIOUS would it be to spend a week in playtime mode, in a society where we’re encouraged to work our lives away? Consider that play has been stolen from us— maybe playing with handstands (and more) is an act of RESISTANCE Perhaps a handstand retreat is more a MEDICINE for a sick world, and less of an indulgent luxury. Give yourself a chance to know your body through PLAY instead of through labour. Press handstand tutorial: Instagram style 😜 Meaning: lots of important information will inevitably be left out. But I hope this is somewhat helpful! Don’t forget to save and share 🫶 If you’re serious about learning handstands — press included of course — then you can never beat training in person with someone who can spot you and help you feel how your body is meant to move into these positions. ☀️ don’t miss my upcoming handstand retreat ☀️ • spend a week with me working on your handstands • enjoy Moroccan sun, food, and more between lessons! 🔗 in my profile for more! Or DM me if you have any questions! (I love hearing from you!) #handstandwithadell #presshandstand #presshandstanddrills #handstand #handstandretreat

Truly, understanding some fundamental neurology is life changing: 🧠 EVERYTHING you experience in life is because of how your brain receives, interprets, and responds to the environment 🧠 your brain runs on PATTERNS 🧠 these patterns can be useful or unhelpful: Useful pattern example: “Damn this exercise is HARD! Woohoooo that means I’m getting stronger! Lets goooooo” Unhelpful pattern: “Damn this exercise is HARD! I’m not strong enough. I give up.” What you focus on: a pattern. How you experience pain: a pattern. How you interpret challenges: a pattern. NOTHING is fixed. Nothing is permanent. You can always change these patterns. First comes AWARENESS. Then comes the decision to change. Then you have to act on that decision to change. Changing your patterns is also a pattern #metaplasticity I.E. You can get better at changing your patterns! Start to see the patterns and the change-ability of them. Empower yourself! #yogasequence #yogainspiration #yogaflow #vinyasa #neurology #psychology #brainfood

☝️ one of the yoga asana flows from my last handstand retreat. This was what we did to drill various inverted backbend shapes before going into workshopping these inversions* My next retreat is 8-14 March and it’s in this same gorgeous venue! Yoga & handstands go so well together because so much of a handstand journey is mental and emotional. So we blend: 🗣️affirmations, 🫁breathwork, 🧠neurology, 🕉️yoga philosophy, 🧘and asana 🤸with handstands at my retreats. If this sounds good to you, check my profile page for the wesbtie or just DM me or leave a comment! *I give options! You do NOT need to be able to do the flow the way I did it! 😘 #handstandretreat #yogaretreat #yogahandstand #invertedbackbend #handstandpractice #handstand
