Cardio: 30 minutes 5-6 X a week. Power walk outside is my first choice if it's not raining. If the weather is bad, I do a treadmill, climber, or recumbent bike. All my cardio was done at the house before I ate breakfast on an empty stomach. I invested into cardio equipment years ago before I would buy anything. During the final 3 weeks of the plan, I started doing a 30 minute 9:30 pm evening cardio, If I felt I was a little behind where I wanted to be. Breakfast: After my morning cardio, I would eat breakfast. 40+ years, dieting or no dieting, I eat the same 2 things unless I purposely eat pancakes or waffles as one of my cheat meals. 👉 5 scrambled eggwhites, 2 yolks. Small oatmeal. Lunch & Dinner: Sunday evening, I would always eat a healthy meal of chicken breast, broccoli & small salad. The lunch & dinner meal from Sunday evening to Friday at lunch are healthy, clean meals. An average portion of quality protein (6oz) , steamed vegetables & a small portion of of a dry baked potato. Bedtime snack: As I began to get leaner, about 3 weeks out, to protect my muscles from being eaten up, because I was so lean. I would eat 3-4 egg whites before I go to bed. Cheat days: I rarely cheat during the week. The only exception would be a special event, maybe Valentine's Day, birthday day, or sporting event. If it's a football game or baseball game, I'm having a hot dog 🌭 & nachos 😋. Most of those things are pushed to the weekend where I eat a few treat meals. So most of the time, I eat healthy meals during the week. Friday night is usually my first cheat meal, and over the weekend, I may eat a total of 3 cheat meals. Training: Mon- Thurs. 50-60 min. of weight training Off days: Fri, Sat & Sunday I do not weight train. I purposely leave the gym behind, go do something outside, which currently is the motorcycle life, or driving my roadster on curvy fast roads. The 3 days away from training allow me to find so much adventure away from the gym, and then I am ready to train on Monday. Set your goal, stick with it, and if you slip up along the way, just restart the plan again. It never is about perfection. It is about consistency. 80% of the time.

When I speak at my workshops I always talk about the importance of both cardio & lifting weights. Cardio, which is basically getting your heart rate up is for keeping you lean, establishing a high metabolic rate to burn body fat while at the same time works your heart and lungs for overall optimum health. Just do cardio and you neglect over 600 muscle that were designed to push & pull and give your body strength, shape & form. Training with weights keep you from being weak & fragile, but just weight train and you can still be very unhealthy. I do cardio in the morning before breakfast, separate from my weight training later in the day. What if I only had 1 hour I could devote to my overall fitness. I would do cardio for 30 minutes and weight train for 30 minutes. The Wedding Tree in San Saba, Texas. The Comanche Indians chose this site for council meetings, and it also served as a sacred venue to exchange wedding vows.
