It aired early this morning, but they were still editing late last night! Final 3 spots available. Workshop in May in Seville! I know I know, people don’t feel like spending money or traveling right now. I get it because I feel this hard. We have always sold out the workshop immediately. And this was on the way to be. Then the US president change, and all the chaos and uncertainty, the final 3 tickets stopped moving. And we get it. The good news is, we have enough participants and the workshop is definitely happening! (Those of you who’s already signed up, no worries!) and I actually do prefer teaching a smaller group, so I don’t mind this at all. At the same time, Sevilla is a smaller city, and @lagaleriaroja is a small business championing artists and bring people not just for sightseeing and have a meaningful connection to and in Seville. AND, relies on the workshop participants to stay in business. So, if you can, spots are still available, you’ll have a great time in this gorgeous place, and you’ll help the art organization keep doing good work. See you in about a month!! FYI, fellow non naturalized residents of the USA, this is what I’m doing and you may want to consider. (Though, I didn’t really move to the USA, I just moved to New York City, but you know it’s a part of this county.)

The Great Gatsby is a lot darker story than about romance and glamour. It’s about class wars: the self-centered greed of ultra rich and the rest of us whom they step all over to keep them safe and keep them rich. There is a lot of violence, and graphic gore description of it. Shock value may be low for modern readers, but we can imagine how some of the descriptions were received exactly 100 years ago. And, America still lives in the Gatsby era’s dark class wars, we can sadly say it’s even worse now than ever before. I usually start a project with the most vivid image that captures me from reading the book, and it’s where Tom Buchanan brutally assault his mistress Mrs. Wilson and breaks her nose. I re-read the book multiple times, stayed away from watching any of the films (I know the glamour of them already which was not my interest) but looked at every illustrated Gatsby books (I need to know what’s been done so I won’t do the same), I decided to go no-glamour, no-romance. Focusing on the darker violence and the class wars of the story. I’m a bit worried about the upcoming release of @foliosociety edition of the great American classic. Would you be open to my take? Would you get offended? Well, the least I can do was to give my own best. And so I did. The release date is April 10. Limited to 500 copies signed by me and the author who wrote the afterwords (I don’t think the name is announced yet, but it’s going to be epic!!) please check @foliosociety for more.
