Emerging writers, best sellers, award winning authors, etc. We begin again, face to face with a page and all of its void. There’s comfort somewhere in remembering that. I pause. Let them go wild. Bring the room together again…and then I ask, “What is this?”. 🐍🦎🐉🦖🐊. Sometimes they’ll get 3 tries to guess as a group, sometimes it’s more. keep authors in your schools. keep our books on your shelves. “Author Antwan Eady” is a privilege. I’ve always known this. I’ve never taken it for granted. But these days, every visit, every Q&A, every everything everywhere all at once is my way of hugging the world. It’s my way of giving the world, my best attempt at, an impossible hug because I’m grateful to be here. And I know…asking anything of anyone right now is a lot. Esp when existing is more than enough these days and our presence is a protest in and of itself. But PLEASE, if you can…please keep authors in your schools. Young dreamers deserve better. If you were in those rooms with me this week, then you know. It was filled with promise and love and hope and a kinder, gentler, curious world thanks to our young dreamers. Y’all, keep the school/festival/library invites coming. It means a lot and none of it’s lost on me. Let us be where we belong. Eternally grateful. AND I love reader mail!
