I aim to raise my children to love the outdoors, and not to be conditioned to the weather. I hope they’ll discover how spending time in nature can uplift their spirits, even when they’re feeling tired or overwhelmed. By nurturing their connection to nature, I hope to inspire them to become their protector. Do you agree? What would you add?

There is not a magic formula to get your kids to like hiking, and you might do all these things and they still don’t want to go on hikes. I genuinely believe that the more time they spend outdoors the more comfortable they feel and more likely are to enjoy it. I find parenting outdoors easier, and walked with both of my sons since they were born, I’ve definitely gained confidence with time, as it can be daunting to go hiking with your little ones. Just to keep it real, no everyday my kids want to go on hikes, sometimes they don’t want to walk at all and we don’t make it to far, we spend time playing instead.

We had a bit of a morning, a tired boy with big feelings! As we headed out and started to walk I could see him relaxing and his little smile and normal chatter coming out. As we arrived to the woods, they were just happy playing and exploring on their own. It’s funny how in a house full of toys they get bored, and need you to play with them but when they are outdoors, not toys, just nature resources, they are so content playing for hours and don’t even look at you! Have you notice how they play better when outside?

As a mum I always struggle to find time for myself, I am really aware of the importance of it and how beneficial it’s for me to have that time but I always feel I am missing out. After the last couple weeks, looking after poorly children or looking after children while being poorly, this was really needed. I had 45 mins of me time and being outside is all I wanted to do. I am not used to spending such a little time outside and I really noticed how it affects me, I sleep worse, my patient runs short, I feel less creative and in general less motivated to do anything. Came back home with my cup full, now I need to make it happen more often! ✨ #selfcare #mumlife #metime #outdoors #walk #busymum #mumselfcare #mummetime

A little different to my usual content but a few of you were interested in this video. I hope it’s clear, I tried to record me explaining how to do it but after a week of illnesses I am not sure anyone needs to hear my voice 😅. I made it just by using things we already had at home, looking at it now, I would prefer the bows thinner and in a different colour but I just wanted to give another life to these things so they don’t end in the bin. We can make so many Christmas decorations with bits we can forage and things we already have at home. I love getting creative this time of year and fill the house with hand made decorations. If you recreate it, tag me in or send me a picture as I would love to see yours!

We woke up to snow on Saturday and we went straight outside to play. It didn’t last long unfortunately but we sure made the most of it! ❄️☃️

Sometimes all you need is a bit of nature and a hot chocolate with your family! More than ever, these days they’re not in a good mood, worried about something. Fresh air always helps us feel better and more relaxed, and it’s the best place to connect and talk. The boys were kindly gifted this amazing raincoats from @hollyandbeau they changed colour when wet and both love wearing it at the moment.

Being two means you can’t remember experiencing things for the first time, but it has its benefits, you can have a second go at it being ‘first’. We drove to @forestryenglanddalby on Friday to play in the snow, and seeing the joy in Toby’s face was priceless. He was a bit confused as to why there was snow but it wasn’t Christmas, and a few tears were shed once his hands got cold, but nothing a hot chocolate can’t resolve!

Sunshine, fresh air and 2 of my favourite people (missing J as he was at school) ☀️🌿

I would say any day is a good day to be outdoors but even more so when we are not feeling 100%! As a parent, the lack of sleep and the mental load can’t be a lot! Going outside in the fresh air helps reduce stress and improve our mental health. Being outdoors is our favourite way to recharge as a family. Do you recharge outdoors?

This week was a bit different. We started off with a few days child-free in Paris, did lots of walking, ate amazing food, drank delicious wine, and, more importantly, got engaged! Came back home to a lovely, sunny weekend with the boys, nice walks, and catching up with friends. Feeling very grateful!

Hiking with my kids is more than just the benefit of time outdoors, it’s about creating lasting memories and building strong bonds. It might be challenging, but the joy we feel at the end of the hike is worth every step.
