Our Explorer Studio had an incredible visit to the @vmfamuseum! 🎨✨ They explored Roman history through a discussion of the Caligula statue and how Romans portrayed idealized figures—very different from reality. 🏺 They learned how ancient pots told myths and stories, even seeing a pot restored from hundreds of pieces! The visit wrapped up with a hands-on scratch art activity to spark their creativity. Our first Exhibition of Learning for the year! Our Discovery and Explorer Studios learners presented their session one work, including speeches on friendship, creative projects on what makes a hero and who their biggest heroes are, and custom-made trading cards (like Pokémon but featuring their own artistic creations!). They led studio tours, answered questions, and guided Socratic discussions with parents. The day concluded with the signing of their collaboratively created studio contracts. Starting in January, we’ll offer weekly Tuesday morning sessions from 9 AM to 12 PM for kids ages 5-12. These sessions are independent of our Pace learners’ outdoor activities and focus on nature-based play. TimberNook provides a unique outdoor experience where children can explore, create, and grow.
