It’s been a surreal last 8 months being a Palestinian American. Seeing so many in the US finally see the Palestinian people and the oppression they have been enduring for so long. Seeing the destruction, the hate, but also the hope. I decided to create a small collection of bracelets representing some beautiful parts of Palestinian culture that I really love. In the first picture I’m wearing a Palestinian thobe, styled in a very American way, but what can I say, I’m American. 😜. It was made in the city of Ramullah which is where my family is from. The embroidery is an ancient technique called Tatreez. This technique has been passed down through generations of Palestinian women for thousands of years and is a big part of Palestinian culture. The bracelets I made for this collection were inspired by the colors often seen in Tatreez and Palestinian thobes. The card included says “Revolutionary Optimism” which is a belief that during horrific oppression, one needs to invest in their community and mutual aid as they work towards liberation, never giving up hope. This has been so clearly shown by the Palestinian people. And while our privileged lives here are incomparable, I think we could all use a little revolutionary optimism. It is so easy to feel hopeless and frustrated by American politics, the economy, corporate greed… We’ve got to keep the faith and work towards a better world. The profits from each bracelet will go to the Palestinian American Medical Association. They have been working in the West Bank and Gaza since 2013. They collaboration with Palestinian medical professionals as well as coordinate medical missions. Wow there are A LOT of new faces here so to catch you all up to speed… I’m Lindsay, a mom and Gemini with ADHD and two of the cutest wildest little boys. This all started back in 2020, I was a stay at home mom with a 1 year old and 3 year old and feeling a bit lost without a creative outlet. I started an Etsy shop making snarky friendship bracelets and to my surprise they took off! Running that shop, hearing your stories of how they’ve made you laugh during a difficult time in your life, or made you feel seen in a world of toxic positivity has been one of the greatest joys of my life! As my shop has continued to grow I started also sharing bits of my life from motherhood, surviving breast cancer at 31, to my favorite drinks. I love to share the real stuff, even when it’s not cute or even fun…but maybe funny. Cheers to EIGHT years! Mr. CrayGardens & I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary with a weekend staycation at @theivyhotel in Baltimore. I think massages, espresso martinis, long relaxing breakfasts, and being able to turn my brain off for a few days because the amazing staff here will literally do all the thinking for you… was the perfect way to celebrate!
