This Mercedes SL 73 AMG was rescued after 17 years. This incredibly rare V12-powered Mercedes-Benz SL 73 AMG is one of just 85 cars ever made. After being parked for 17 years, it was fortunately rediscovered and recommissioned by the maestros at Mechatronik. Starting with the 385 hp 500 SL 6.0 AMG in 1990, things only got more out of hand as AMG piled on the power. The SL 70 would follow in 1998, increasing potency to 496 hp, but things really got crazy when the utterly outrageous 526 hp SL 73 was finally unleashed. Almost never advertised in any sales brochures or price lists, less than 85 SL 73s were ever made. Each started life as an already top-tier, AMG Styling Package-equipped SL 600, before being trucked to Affalterbach for the final transformation. The conversion cost a whopping 99,180 Deutschmarks, launching the final price above 350,000 Deutschmarks, making it one of the most expensive cars of its time. Of course, the crown jewel of the SL 73 was its artwork of an engine, a bored-out 7.3-litre variant of the V12 M120 series engine. The M120 series was used in the legendary CLK GTR in 6.9-litre form, and in 7.3-litre guise in the CLK GTR Super Sport, before finally appearing in the iconic Pagani Zonda S; some pretty wicked relatives for this mature grand tourer. Thanks to Mechatronik's extensive work, this SL 73 has to rank among the finest remaining examples of this rare beast. The car retains its original Panorama hardtop and complete documents, including the SL 73 operating instructions, and service booklet. Interestingly, this SL 73 bears very few visual distinctions from its lesser R129-based siblings, with only the badge and twin-exit exhausts hinting at the 7.3-litre monster hiding under the bonnet. As far as sleepers go, it doesn’t get much cooler than this Amber Red marvel. Don't forget to follow us and leave likes and comments if you found a mistake. #first_limousine_magazine. Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman Landaulet (W100, 1974MY) is a line of ultra-luxury cars produced by Daimler-Benz from 1963 to 1981. The forerunner of the modern Maybach marque, the Grosser Mercedes ("Grand Mercedes") succeeded the Type 300d "Adenauer" as the company's flagship model. It was positioned above the 300-series Mercedes-Benz W112 in price, amenities, and status. Its few competitors included British and American equivalents such as Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Lincoln Continental, Cadillac Series 75, and Imperial. It was well known for its ownership among celebrities and political leaders throughout the late 20th century. A number of the limousines were made as landaulets, with a convertible top over the rear passenger compartment. Two versions of the convertible roof were made: long roof and short roof. Of them, the short roof, which opens only above the last, third row of seats, is the more common version. Rarer, especially with the 6-door landaulets, is the long roof, called the Presidential roof. In all, 59 landaulets were produced, and of them, only 26 were 6-door landaulets. Of these 26, only nine were 6-doors landaulets with the long Presidential-type roof. One of these nine cars was used by the former Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito, and it was sold in 2017 in England, for £2.5 million. Landaulets like these were also notably used by the German government, as during the 1965 state visit of Queen Elizabeth II. The Vatican, in addition to an elongated Mercedes 300d 4-door landaulet, used for the Pope a specially designed Mercedes 600 4-door landaulet, which now resides at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. Production of the landaulet versions of the 600 ended in 1980. Don't forget to follow us and leave likes and comments if you found a mistake. #first_limousine_magazine. One-off Selfmade Stretched VW Beetle 'Longbug' with extension wheelbase +1200mm and additional doors and seats. The project is not unique, such models are often modified by lengthening the body and increasing passenger capacity, but it turned out to be a very nice car, right? Selfmade Open Toyota LandCruiser 80 First thing you’ll notice is that with the padded roll bars it looks like some random Yank absolutely wanted a four-door Wrangler, but either couldn’t actually afford it or didn’t want to drive the same 4X4 as everyone else. From there, you’ll notice that it’s actually a high-trim Sahara model (most of the 80 Series Cruisers imported to the US were the top-tier Sahara, VX or even Lexus LX450 models) so there’s leather as far as the eye can see. And then there’s the factory front bumper… I mean, when was the last time you saw an 80 Series with one of those still intact? From there you’ll notice the ‘shaved’ lower tailgate (c’mon mate, it’s not a ricer), coupled with the colour-coded wheel trims and the 33-inch highway terrains. But, apparently, it’s had a full respray (removing the plastic door mouldings was a little too hard for the painter, apparently), and it’s got a ‘no button’ soft-top to keep it looking ‘super-clean’. Red GAZ-13 'Chaika'. in a color that is not standard for the model and with wheels that are not suitable for this model. I don’t really welcome tuning of such cars, but what do you think?
