One of my favorite winter destinations from Denver is Moab, Utah. While only about a 5-6 hour drive away, it feels like being transported to another world! And just like Rocky Mountain National Park, winter is the ideal time to visit if you're looking to avoid massive crowds. Here's a few of my favorite things to do both in Moab and along the way: 🌄 Sunset at the iconic Delicate Arch of @archesnps is an absolute must-do. There is a short 3.2 mile roundtrip hike to reach it, and it does get icy in the winter (especially the last bit before the arch), so bring your yaktrax/good traction shoes. 🌅 Sunrise at Mesa Arch in @canyonlandsnps is another must do. You'll still probably be fighting for photos space even in winter, but it's usually more do-able than in the summer. Plus, sunrise is later in the morning in winter, so you don't have to get up quite as early! 🪨 Dead Horse State Park is an excellent stop off after a visit to Canyonlands, where you get exceptional views of the Colorado River making its way through the red rock canyons. 🏜 Potash Road allows you to follow the river deep into Canyonlands, and gives you some iconic western scenes. It does eventually turn to a dirt road, so best to do this when it's dry and be sure to have an AWD/4x4 vehicle if you want to go past the pavement. 🎨 The Moab area has been home to the native Ute peoples for millenia, as evidenced by the numerous petroglyphs in the area. None is more impressive than Newspaper Rock State Monument! 🚗 Back on the Colorado side of the border, don't miss out on some great attractions along the way to Moab. Some of my favorite stops include a drive through Colorado National Monument, exploring the falls and ice caves at Rifle Falls State Park, and breaking up the drive with a dip at @ironmountainhotsprings #Moab #Utah #utahgram #utahunique #Colorado #colorfulcolorado #roadtrip #roadtripping #winter
