It is launch day! Rooted In Wonder: Nurturing Your Family’s Faith Through God’s Creation is now available! 🌿 I remember when this idea sprouted in my heart. Our family was exploring a creek bed in the wilderness, foraging fresh raspberries from their bushes. We were surrounded by tall stands of Lodgepole pine trees, slightly drooping at their tops, heavy with crowns of cones. My boys commented how the trees looked like they were kings bowing down. I had to agree. Have you ever heard creation sing? Or stood before a waterfall or mountain, or beside a still river and felt something profound stir your soul? On that day, hemmed in by bowing pine, I thought of Isaiah 55:12, "The mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." I recognize in nature a vast classroom of materials that I can use to point my kids to their Creator and nurture a resilient faith within them. It was from there that I pursued my education and certification as a Master Naturalist so that today, in the pages of this book, you too can discover how to reconnect the dots between creation and Creator and gift your children with an evidence-rich and wonder-filled faith rooted in God's Word and his created world! What an incredible image God has given us in nature! Imaginal discs are those clumps of cells that God put inside a caterpillar, that later, inside the chrysalis, turn into the parts of a butterfly. Almost like he tucked those imaginal discs into the caterpillar and said, “Imagine what you’ll become!” Just like God created the caterpillar with imaginal discs, as if saying “Imagine what you will become!” He created you. Five ways to inspire “thinking God’s thoughts after Him.” 1️⃣ Inspire words Ask questions that inspire deep thought. * What do you think God was thinking about when He created this? * What strengths did He give it? * What details about God does it reflect? 2️⃣ Connect words Read Scripture & point out the nature imagery used. Ask your child why they think that image was used. Start with these Scriptures. * Isaiah 40:8 * Psalm 104:13 * Psalm 90:2 * Psalm 1:1-3 3️⃣ Use words Have your child write a few sentences about something they like from nature & what it tells them about God. Have them reflect on it with these questions. * Is your thought true to God’s character? Do you see Him acting in this way throughout the Bible? * Does your thought point people to God? * Do you feel like you are shoving a puzzle piece where it does not fit in order to get this point across? As the weather turns cold, milkweed pods turn from lush green to parched brown. They crack open and release their seeds to the sky. The wind carries them, scattering next year’s life across the land. These seeds will root down and grow new milkweed, the only plant monarchs lay their eggs on. Not all monarchs migrate. Those that don’t migrate live 2-6 weeks. The generation that does migrate lives 6-9 months. Learn about their incredible journey on next week’s episode airing Tuesday.

God gave us curiosity to encourage us to chase after His wonders. The thing about curiosity is that it is like a muscle in our bodies. The more we use it, the stronger it gets. Here are some ideas to follow curiosity to wonder & awe: ➡️ Find a book on the topic! Your local library may have books available, or see if you can borrow one from a friend. ➡️ Go exploring! Go on a nature walk or a hike or sit outside and observe. See if you can find answers to your curiosity by observation. ➡️ Experiment! See if you can build a model or conduct an experiment to investigate in a hands-on way. ➡️ Keep a curiosity journal! Keep a notebook (or note on your phone) of questions you have & things you're curious about. You can return to it when you have more time. ➡️ Go on an adventure! Visit a museum, park, nature center, zoo, aquarium, science center, etc. There are so many places available to foster and nurture curiosity. What about you?
