In the world of art operations, education plays a key role—but the journey is unique for everyone. Our Convelio and @sml_sophiemacphersonltd Art Operations Talent Report shows that while 35.84% of respondents hold a Bachelor’s degree, 55.91% have taken it a step further with a Master’s, offering them specialized knowledge that employers seek. Interestingly, those with Bachelor's degrees tend to earn 15.7% more on average than Master's holders, highlighting the importance of early career experience. PhD holders, though fewer in number (1.79%), earn the highest salaries (€80,582) but see a slower return on investment compared to other degrees. Our survey analysed job satisfaction records across 14 key categories. Findings show that art operations rated their employers lowest in the 'Career Advancement' and 'Feedback Loops' categories - ranking 2.66 and 2.85/5, respectively. Relatedly, a staggering 76% of respondents reported that their salary increases are not connected to specific achievements. Registrars and art operations managers are voicing their concerns about stagnant growth and unclear career pathways.
