𝗔 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁-𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗔𝗚𝗬𝗨 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿🐮❤️和牛迷必試𝟭𝟯道菜和牛宴! Finally made a visit to @nikutoieba_m2dhk , the first international branch of Japan’s top 6 steak restaurant🏆 (Tabelog score 4.0 🌟!) – and what an experience it was 🔥Originally from Nara, this gem specializes in a “𝗪𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲”, and they’ve brought their A-game to Hong Kong. One standout for me was the 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗼𝗺𝗯𝘂, 𝗬𝗮𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗻𝗶. The kombu brought out the umami in the Wagyu, the yam added a soft, earthy sweetness, and the uni and caviar on top? Pure decadence🤌🏻Then came the 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗶—a bite-sized masterpiece. The creamy Wagyu practically melted on the rice, and I wanted about ten more pieces. 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗰𝗵 elevates my comfort food to an art form😍 It combines—the most tender cut of Wagyu—𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗮𝘂𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗱 with homemade tartare sauce and 𝗡𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘇𝘂𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘀, a nod to the restaurant’s Nara origins, my absolute favourite in the menu. I was also by the 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗹-𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂 𝗦𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗻. Smoky, tender, and paired with balsamic and Japanese pepper, it was a dish that lingered on my palate long after the plate was cleared. The 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝘆𝘂 𝗦𝘂𝗸𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗶 was another comforting favorite, with its mushrooms, sweet Awaji onion, and Kyoto leeks adding warmth and depth. What made the experience even better was the atmosphere—it felt cozy and intimate, like being in Japan. And the chef, Ishibashi-san, was the sweetest 🫶🏻He came out to chat with us and the whole evening felt so personal and warm☺️ Every course celebrated Wagyu in its purest, most creative forms, and the attention to detail was second to none. If there’s one new opening that’s got everyone talking, it’s @medora_hk by @chefvickycheng 🌟Nestled in the heart of Central, this family-style restaurant brings comforting dishes with a refined twist—perfect for sharing with friends or family over a cozy meal 🍽️ We started with the Beef Tartare 🐮, paired with smoked quail eggs. The texture was beautifully balanced, and the smoky touch added just the right depth to the dish. The French Onion Soup 🧅 followed, warm and deeply satisfying, with the addition of beef tendon giving it an extra layer of richness that felt indulgent without being over the top🥰Next, we tried the Red Prawn Linguine 🦐, a dish that captures the sweet, briny flavor of the red prawn. Don’t miss squeezing the goodness from the prawn head—it’s worth the extra step! While the flavors delivered, we found the prawns a bit on the smaller side. The Barbeque Chicken 🐓 brought it all home with perfectly crispy skin and tender meat, complemented by a fermented habanero chili sauce that gave it just the right amount of heat without overpowering. Private dining hosted by a 21-year-old chef (so talented🥹) in his actual home?! How wholesome🏠✨ With a semi-open kitchen, you can watch Andrew bring his creative dishes to life – it’s like dinner and a show. The menu was dreamy🤌🏻🤍The sourdough was soft and moist, paired with this fermented garlic honey butter that was just chef’s kiss. That buttery uni toast was a little piece of heaven. Then there’s the hairy crab angel hair – so luxurious with its delicate balance of flavors and that gorgeous caviar on top. Then came the star of the show: A5 Wagyu Wellington with winter black truffle – the flaky crust, the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu, ugh, I’m still dreaming about it 🥩✨ And dessert? The panettone bread pudding was cozy and indulgent, topped with Fun Kee’s addictive cookies & cream ice cream (yes, I refilled it three times, don’t judge me 😌) Also, how cute is this: the dish ‘Dada,’ inspired by their family helper of over 30 years, made with Iberico pork, pineapple, tomato, and bell pepper, bringing a little extra “home” into this experience🫶🏻 UNI. WAGYU. TRUFFLE. CAVIAR. This menu basically read my mind, and it was everything I love. And yes, I have to say it: the bathroom might just be the most beautiful I’ve ever seen in a restaurant😍🪞 Now, onto the food! One bite, and I was hooked😌And then came the Aburi Fancy Scallops. Torched just enough for that smoky aroma, paired with tangy apple vinegar dressing and glass noodles, it was light, refreshing, and so delicate🫶🏻. Another memorable dish was the Censu Cup Udon 1.5🍜— spicy sesame sauce was creamy with just the right amount of heat, and the tender three yellow chicken made every bite so satisfying. It’s like the ultimate bowl of happiness. The Tuna Kama 🐟 was grilled to perfection, with meat just so tender. The smoky bonito apple ponzu sauce brought this beautiful balance of sweet and tangy – I didn’t want it to end. And let’s talk about dessert because the Mont Blanc Dango🌰 was EVERYTHING!!Chestnut mousse, chewy mochi on a flaky puff pastry with praline? To celebrate its 3-year anniversary, JOM Restaurant is treating diners to an incredible deal with their Newton Nights menu—an 8-course tasting menu for only $598 for 2 people! 🎉🤩 This is your chance to indulge in a variety of vibrant flavors at an unbeatable price. The meal started with three starters with the Salted Egg Lotus Roots being my fav! Then came the sweet and spicy Chilli Soft Shell Crab Bao with crunchy crab and fluffy bao. The sour milk bread was truly unforgettable🫶🏻, with a texture reminiscent of banana bread/ muffins: crunchy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Paired with the homemade butter🧈, it was perfection🤤 The oyster mushroom offered an intriguing, meaty texture with earthy umami notes that paired beautifully with the sweet and sour pumpkin purée. The North Atlantic cod 🐟was wrapped in savoy cabbage and served with a creamy anchovy sauce. The flaky fish paired with the buttery richness of the sauce created a comforting and refined dish. The slow-cooked beef brisket was lean yet tender, with a satisfying bite. Paired with caramelized onions, it offered a delightful balance of savory and sweet flavors.
