📣 Yellowtrace founder and editor, @dana.tomic.hughes, is speaking at @tedxsydney on September 1st. Dana will be sharing her unique perspective on the life-changing power of design for everyone. TEDxSydney is a gold stand for the propagation of Australian ideas, creativity and innovation to the rest of the world. It aims to foster a sense of community, and provide a cultural focus and impetus for conversation and debate. Bringing a diverse group of leading thinkers from areas of business, tech, engineering, science, as well as culture and the arts, this jam-packed not-for-profit initiative assembles speakers and an audience that's curious and passionate about the future. This year's theme is Tipping Point. "We are at a Tipping Point — but that doesn’t mean we are standing at the precipice of disaster. Looking at history, periods after momentous challenges are one of exciting, fast-paced growth, optimism and renewal. We are living in an era where new ideas, technologies, and information can spread fast and wide. The possibilities for creating a new era are almost endless." If you're in Sydney and wish to attend, you can register via the link in our bio, and use the code "Speaker-TomićHughes" to receive a 10% discount. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed, and you can register via the same link. Date: 1 September 2023 Event Timing: 8.30am—5:30pm Venue: The Hordern Pavilion & Entertainment Quarter https://2023.tedxsydney.com/

In Guadalajara, Mexico, @dinamita_taller restored an early 1900s Casa Justina. Thoughtfully chosen materials play a vital role in this transformation, with elements like green stucco, clay, and traditional cement mosaics at the heart of the design. 📷 @nicolasmillion.atelier #YellowtraceInteriors #YellowtraceResidential #YellotraceInMexico

🏎️ Step into Garage—Shenzhen's underground car culture paradise where retro meets future and Hollywood meets Hong Kong garage culture. Raw concrete columns meet red metal accents in this thoughtfully renovated 1960s Milan apartment. See how architect Emilio Scarano creates narrative through space with pure material and absence of decor, rejecting open-plan living for something far more intriguing. In a welcome twist on the typical tech office aesthetic, @elmostudios has created something special for Furniture.com's New York City headquarters. In Lisbon, Marvila by @atelierjoseandraderocha was developed during the pandemic. "Perhaps for this reason, the house desires to enhance gatherings and to go beyond mere function—seeking an imagined joy," explain the architects. The rear façade offers a renewed connection with the garden as a prerogative to celebrate what is vital to us: the sun, the earth, the water, and leisure. Inside the building, a universe of conventional materials is repeated and modified—structural timber panels covered in green oil, slightly bluish industrial pavement, painted steel sheets, timber frames, Sintra limestone and river pebbles. 📷 francisco.ascensao #YellowtraceInteriors #YellowtraceArchitecture #YellowtraceResidential #YellowtraceInPortugal

⚡️Step into a time machine at Run To The Future’s debut store in Chengdu. Where vintage typewriters meet cyberpunk dreams, and fitting rooms become theatrical sets. Architecture involves a constant state of transformation and translation. Whether it be conceptual or physical, these evolutions generate interest and intrigue and provide tangible touchstones indicating where and even when a space came into its own. Such is the nature of House 14a in Copenhagen by @pihlmann, a patchwork of what was, what is and what will be. Spread across two storeys, this 166 square-metre home was originally built in 1951, and whilst it carries a certain Danish farmhouse charm, dusted with that Copenhagen cool we all know and love, it is also filled with eclectic and unexpected furniture and details that promise exploration and excitement around every corner. A few favourite moments from a recent tour of @melbourneplace with its lead architects — @paddyjkennedy and @adrianahanna of @kennedy_nolan, followed by a short but sweet stay in one of the beautiful corner rooms. The transformative developments such as this are crucial in shaping our cities, and the architects’ dedication, expertise and vision have made this hotel a future landmark in a town already obsessed with design. #YellowtraceHotels #YellowtraceInteriors #YellowtraceInAus
