Just some current admirations of the greenhouse: enjoying hand picked olives plant shadows the wood stove heating our greenhouse up to 70 degrees (when it’s only 20 outside) the blooming begonia the 9’ tall birds of paradise the illuminated light from every angle our bright green laurel wall that has not been faded by the season I love that we get to open this space up for others to share in an otherwise tough-time-for-picture-taking-outside season. All film, all the time.🎞️💕✨ Whats included when you rent our space: All 8k sq ft of outdoor space which encompasses our greenhouse, fancy tool shed/changing room, warm-water outdoor shower, greenhouse bathtub (also warm), laurel wall and tons of blooming flowers spring-autumn.🌸🌷🌻 This year we also built a pizza oven and are going to start offering an all-encompassing pizza date night as well as pizza catering for your events here at the greenhouse! Howdy Friends! My name is Sommer-Rae and I’m the face in front of and behind @theseattlegreenhouse as well as my photography and doula business @iamsisterrain💕 📸For new and old friends, here are some things about me you might like to know… 🕊️I graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a film photography & printmaking major. 🐇I went back to school after teaching art at private and public schools for 6 years and became a waldorf teacher. I’ve worked with children: teaching music, art, math, science, history, language arts, etc for a little over 10 years. 🐁I am abbbbsolutley obsessed with plants, if you couldn’t already tell. Eric and I built the greenhouse right after our daughter was born 2 1/2 years ago. We were both on leave after birth and used those 3 months to do 95% of the build. We gathered all the antique windows after finding them for free on a bike ride, brought them home and started with little experience. 🐩I was a personal chef for 4 years and love making food for folks. 🐏I lived and worked on flower and vegetable farms off and on for a little over 10 years. I even owned my own for a season. Connection with the earth and nature is what nourishes me. 🦢Being a doula has given me an immense sense of connection to others and myself. It informs my photography, inner growth and love for community building. 🦙I’m third generation Norwegian and learned everything from my grandparents; sewing, urban farming and making anything you need in this life. 🐑I’m so grateful that folks choose to shoot in our greenhouse, pick me as their photographer or welcome me into their home as their doula. The gratitude is too much sometimes.🥹 🐓Lastly, I’m a Gemini and multitasking and having many different forms of art I’m working with (food, babies, photos, oracle cards, making clothing, managing bookings😉) is a serious pleasure. Hey guess what?! No matter what, it’s always warm inside the greenhouse🍁 We keep fires running all throughout the cold season so our plants, and you, stay warm… around 75 degrees to be exact! 🙏🏼Thank you to all of our lovely guests who have booked this season and keep us busy. Hey everybody! Thanks for putting up with my busy booty and lack of posting.. been chasing a toddler and baby along with my shooting, styling and floral work.. not to mention all of our house projects this summer! Thanks for being here; whether it’s a booking, a follow or a like, we appreciate you! ❓We get this question a lot: “What’s the lighting like at _____ time?” Or “When is the best time for lighting in the greenhouse?!” My general answer is that it’s always great! Our backyard is south facing and from morning until evening the greenhouse is covered in light! Plus, with the 360 degrees of windows around you and/or your client, you know the light will be flattering. Just like being outside but without having to battle the elements.🌞⛈️
