I love this quote from Willard Scott, “My grandmother’s house…she ran it just like her grandmother and her great-grandmother. They didn’t have electricity. They had wood stoves that never got cold.” It reminds me of the little wood stove in my miniature farmhouse… or I should say, Granny and Grand-Pappy Perkins farmhouse! 😄 The kitchen truly is the heart of the home. ♥️ I remember my Mama-in-Love talked about how her Ma, Jenny May, cooked on an old cast-iron wood stove on their farm in Southern Oklahoma. She made biscuits and cornbread every single day. And sometimes, on special occasions, she would whip up a batch of chocolate gravy to pour on those fresh biscuits hot out of the oven. She also churned her own butter and sold it to the general store merchant in town. Everyone loved Jenny May’s butter because it was always fresh and sweet. Those were hard-scrabble years, but their home was filled with lots of love and good home cookin’! ♥️🥰🥧

It was 1886 on a brisk Christmas Eve and the rustic log cabin, deep in the Appalachian Mountains, glowed with warmth and comfort. Ma bustled about her little kitchen, her cheeks rosy from the heat of the old wood stove. She had just pulled the bubbling apple pie from the oven, a recipe passed down from her great, great grandma. The sweet and spicy aroma of apples and sugared cinnamon swirled around the room and mingled with the mouth-watering smell of a golden-brown, turkey roasting on the hearth, where its juices sizzled and popped in the pan. Pa and big Brother returned from hunting, stomping snow off their boots and hung their rifles on the wall. Little brother and sister ran to hug Pa as he swooped them up into a big bear hug. Pa exclaimed, “smells like heaven in here Ma!” Ma smiled and her eyes twinkled as she wiped her washed hands on her apron, she replied “thank you darlin’, I hope you’re hungry… time to wash up, supper’s almost ready, and the Andersons will be arriving soon.” By the door, Ma had prepared a basket for their neighbors, the Anderson’s, they would be joining them for Christmas Eve supper. A fresh loaf of bread, molasses cookies, and a jar of honey filled that basket and would no doubt delight the hearts of these dear folks. Happy voices and laughter filled the cozy cabin when Ma and Pa opened the door to welcome friends that had become family. The fire crackled and flickered as Pa lit the oil lamp and said grace over the meal and gave thanks to God for the most amazing gift ever given by sending His Son Jesus to be our Savior and everyone replied with a heartfelt “Amen!”♥️ Ma cheerfully declared “Merry Christmas everyone! Eat up!”🌟 Shout out to Abby @ittybittycottage for making the adorable gingerbread boys on the Christmas tree!🤎🌲🤎🌲🤎🌲🤎🌲

The starry heavens sparkled brightly as God sent us the greatest Christmas gift ever! “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23 “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15 Jesus is the reason for this wonderful Christmas season! 🥰♥️🎄♥️🌟

The cozy months are here! The perfect time to read some Laura Ingall’s Wilder books! Here’s one of my favorite excerpts: “All day the storm lasted. The windows were white and the wind never stopped howling and screaming. It was pleasant in the warm house. Laura and Mary did their lessons, then Pa played the fiddle while Ma rocked and knitted, and bean soup simmered on the stove. All night the storm lasted, and all the next day. Fire-light danced out of the stove’s draught, and Pa told stories and played the fiddle.” Laura Ingalls Wilder, On the Banks of Plum Creek A few years ago I went to Laura’s Rocky Ridge Farm in Mansfield Missouri, just an hour away from where I live in Branson Missouri. They were having a special event that weekend and I got to meet Ma Ingalls from the little House on the Prairie TV series and I also got to hear a violinist play a song from the actual fiddle that belong to Pa Ingalls. What a joy and a delight!

🍂🍎🍁“Our family members will carry the atmosphere we create in our homes for the rest of their lives. ~ Mrs Dunworthy It’s not a perfectly decorated home that we should strive for, but a home that is filled with an atmosphere of comfort, hope and joy. Our focus should be to create an environment that will nurture strong, and loving relationships with our family and friends. 🤎 Bless your family… make HOME sweet.♥️

🍁🍎🍂🤎One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Psalm 94:19 “In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me, Your comforts, cheer and delight, my soul!“ 🍁♥️🍂 It is so comforting to know that the Lord cares about our anxious thoughts… what worries us… the things that make our heart hurt. But oh my darlin’, do not fear, God is here… and in the sweetest, most endearing things, His comforts cheer and delight our soul if we just look for them! His love for us is as soothing as coming out of the snowy-cold, and into a bright, warm, happy kitchen with the aroma of supper, cookin’ and a place set for you at the table. Let’s open our eyes, smell with our nose, listen with our ears, the blessings that God has placed all around us and be quick to thank Him! Have you ever thought of the aroma of a Thanksgiving turkey roasting in the oven, the warmth of a crackling fire or the familiar ticking of the clock at grandma‘s house as one of God’s comforts that “cheer and delight” your soul? How about the words, spoken with excitement, “Time to eat!! ”, and dear hands held around the table, grace being said, and that first bite of mom’s savory stuffing…it all brings such comfort, cheer and delight. God is so good! He’s placed His blessings all around us! Being thankful is more than just being glad you have something, it’s giving God the glory and the praise for it. What comforts do you cherish that “cheer and delight” your soul? 🥰🍁🍎🍂😘

🍁🍎🍂 I so enjoy decorating for the seasons! It brings such cheerfulness into our daily lives. It revives and awakens our hearts to the glory of God‘s creation and His faithfulness. Little touches of seasonal beauty adorning our home add a sense of celebration, warmth and welcome for our loved ones. Galatians 6:10 says, “be mindful to be a blessing.” As homemakers, making our homes feel cozy and delightful blesses our families! Like the old hymn, when we “Brighten the corner where we are”, it’s like lighting a candle… we light up the hearts of those we love. And a heart that is lit with love is a heart that is warmed. 🍂🧡🍁 -This was an excerpt from my Fall E-book! It’s packed with a wagonload of harvest time ideas to cozy-up your home, fun family traditions, yummy recipes, and nostalgic delights to warm and bless your heart. You can find the link to my Ebook on my page!🍂🥰🍁 🍂🧡🍁 Every year our family goes to the pumpkin patch for some good old fashioned fun and to ride on the hayride! Yee Haw! 🌾 🍂🍎🍁I’d love to know one family tradition that y’all look forward to every fall!

“Fall is my favorite time of year, and I love the countryside in autumn: The leaves are all red, yellow, and brown, and falling from the trees like confetti.” - Gladys Taber 🍂🍎🍁I’d love to know what makes you feel the coziest in Fall?🔥🍁🥧🍎🍿🍪📚🫖☕️🍁🍎🍂🤎
