My Towards the Sun quilt got a cross stitch makeover into Facing the Sun! Modern blooms stretch up to the sky in warm saturated colors. I’ve stitched this on 25 count Vintage cloth from Zweigart in Pebble with Cosmo flosses. Loving the modern vibe and pop of color against that deeper, more muted background. For finishing I used Thatched gray 85 fabric that I wrapped over the mat that came with the frame from Ikea. I painted matte finish Mod Podge over the fabric on the mat to make it more rigid and sealed. I’ve had the stitch done for awhile but had not done my final finishing. The light blue and minty green are so so lovely but the Coastal blue is my favorite. It is what I used on the background of the Surf Wave quilt I designed. This quilt still brings me calm vibes ever time I see it. It is @gnomeangel pattern of Kinship that I made in all Thatched colors. I used the colors of Washed Linen, Blizzard, Toast, Early Dawn, Fuchsia, Green Curry, Olive, Cocoa, Smoked Paprika and Pink Grapefruit. The longarm pantograph is Deco Arch from the Longarm League. It is actually a twin size quilt but we drape it horizontally across the bed. It is time to pare down some fabrics to make room for SERENA SHORES (which I got shipping notifications on today!). I have some Cottage Bleu fabrics and Melina asked me what the plans were for them...hmmmm...she asks good questions. What about some kits? I’ve mocked up Cottage Bleu into Joyful Trio and Constance on white or dark blue to see how they would look. What are your thoughts?? Constance in Queen size or Lap size? I know you are all excited to get the Christmas stuff out, but I just can’t put away fall things yet. The warmth of the colors, the vibrancy of oranges in all kinds of shades...it is bringing me comfort. I have not been very prolific in making brown quilts, but when it is pared with orange and hot pink and spicy reds and soothing caramel colors it takes on a whole new character to me. This is the season for snuggling in. Of course with daylight saving time change I am up early and not fully adjusted, but when my eyes close earlier at night I have a poofy pile of fall quilts to sink into.
