Thanks @latimes for this short documentary on quilts! โ€œEvery quilt tells a different story. โ€œAmerican Seamsโ€ is about three women who find ways to sew their heritage and histories into the craft of quilting. Our newest L.A. Times short doc invites us to sit in intimate conversation with quilters from the landscapes of the American West. Their lives of tenacity and wonder inspire us to reflect on our own experiences and how they shape our own creativity. You can watch โ€œAmerican Seamsโ€ at the link in the @latimes profile.โ€ ๐ŸŽฅ Hunter Phillips; @malonemckenna @kelynikegami @farmandfolk Featured in the Documentary: @pieplatepatterns @farmandfolk @navajoms and @povshorts

The beauty of modern design is that we find meaningful designs in a simplified pattern. The simplest of designs can evoke a variety of emotions in the viewer โ€“ just a hint of the design, and your brain will do the rest. For Sindhu, @creativeclutterroom, this quilt, Cartwheels from issue 57 reminds her of doing cartwheels as a child, hence the name. -โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” ๐Ÿ‘‰ Comment subscribe below and our friendly bot Patch ๐Ÿค– will DM you a link to all of our subscription options, including single issue purchase. -โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” #patchwork #quilt #makemodern #makemodernmagazine #QuiltPattern #quilting #QuiltingIsMyTherapy #QuiltyLove #HomeDecor

Oh we love a crafty gift wrap solution. If you donโ€™t have ribbon to hand try using jelly roll strips or off cuts of fabric, folded in half lengthways to give a bit of structure. Thanks @jasminedowling for this sweet wrap idea. #scrapquilt #useyourscraps

Most quilters who successfully turn their hobbies into a business get to a point where monetising their creativity is the sign of success. But for Amy, who has been designing her own patterns since she first began quilting, the realisation that selling patterns directly to consumers was not exactly where she wanted to be in the quilting industry, and having the courage to take a giant pivot, has been freeing and has set her on a new creative path. Like many quilters, Amy began quilting when her oldest child was born. โ€œI started quilting in 2014 when my oldest was a baby. I had severe postpartum depression and needed to feel like I was accomplishing something besides endless feedings and diapers,โ€ she explains.
