Hey maker! Thought it might time to introduce myself. I’m Kristy - mama, maker, rainbow lover, foundation paper piecing fanatic and part-time chicken wrangler living in Australia. I’ve been quilting since 2011 and Quiet Play came about when I started designing my own foundation paper piecing patterns somewhere around 2012. 🌈 I love foundation paper piecing as much as I love rainbows. And that’s a lot. The perfect points, the crisp angles, the fact there’s very little quilt maths involved… what’s not to love? A 90 second guide to foundation paper piecing! This is my favourite technique. Why? ✅ Perfect points ✔️the accuracy comes about in the piecing, not the cutting ✅ it’s sewing by number ✔️ plus it opens up a whole world of patterns you can’t do with traditional piecing ✅ it’s fun! ✂️ If foundation paper piecing has been on your list of things to try, I encourage you to jump in and give it a go! I was out shopping the other day and spotted these adorable plates featuring cute little houses. Given I’ve just been sewing some of my own, I just had to buy them. Then the shop assistant said “there’s matching tea towels too”. Well clearly you can see what happened. Now I have the cutest plates and tea towels to match my foundation pieced village! I think this pattern may have been my favourite one to rainbowtise! It was designed by @leila.gardunia for the Feightful Fun BoM (coming very soon!). The wings were perfect for a lil colour order!
