6 months ago, I enrolled into a Japanese language school in Tokyo and started my new life living in Japan. Today, I’m holding my certificate of completion from Kyoshin Language Academy @kla_japan, and it feels surreal! 🇯🇵 From day one, I was surrounded by an incredible group of classmates who quickly became friends, and the teachers were amazing! They weren’t just about textbooks; our lessons were a fun blend of listening, reading, speaking, and writing. We had group discussions, field trips, and presentations where we shared what we learned. I loved how immersive the experience was. Every lesson felt like an adventure in learning and in life! The biggest highlight was being nominated as the class representative to deliver a speech at the school’s annual speech contest—IN JAPANESE— in front of 500 people! 😱 I was SO nervous, but it was such a confidence boost. Imagine, just 6 months ago, I couldn’t even make a proper sentence, and now I delivered an entire speech. It’s moments like these that remind me how far I’ve come. Looking back, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment. I didn’t just learn Japanese; I lived the culture, developed my independence in a new country, gained confidence, new outlook in life, new friends and lifelong memories. I absolutely fell in love with the whole experience of living in Japan. I hope some day I get to go back and continue this journey. I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn Japanese in a fun, supportive environment! 💪 #JapaneseLearning #LanguageJourney #JapanExperience #Grateful #japaneselearner #tokyo

Why does the word 馬鹿 mean “idiot” in Japanese? 💡Vocabulary💡 馬 (うま uma) = Horse 🐎 鹿 (しか shika) = Deer 🦌 馬鹿 (ばか baka) = Idiot🥴 馬と鹿はどちら馬鹿? = Between a horse and a deer, which is more foolish? #japanese #japaneselanguage #jepun #日本語 #nihongo #japaneselerner #learnjapanese #japanesephrases #japanesevocabulary

This is actually based on a true story, I was in a rock climbing gym and tried to say that a woman was good at climbing and I ended up saying something really weird instead… this skit is based off of the lingering trauma I have from that experience…

As someone learning Japanese, sometimes I have problems remembering the words that sound similar!Just the other day I was speaking with my Japanese friend and I asked him to send me something. I said 遅れて when I actually meant 送って🥲 But he understood what I said anyway 😂😂 #JapaneseLearning⠀ #LearnJapanese⠀ #日本語学習⠀ #JapaneseLanguage⠀ #日本語教育⠀ #StudyJapanese⠀ #NihongoLearning⠀ #LanguageLearning⠀ #日本語初心者⠀ #JapaneseCulture⠀ #日本語の勉強⠀ #日本語会話⠀ #JapaneseVocabulary⠀ #KanjiLearning⠀ #JapaneseGrammar⠀ #日本語文法⠀ #LanguageExchange⠀ #JapaneseWords⠀ #日本語の言葉⠀ #Jepun⠀ #Nihongo

Some passive forms of Japanese verbs don’t make sense in English! An example is the verb 泣く (to cry), which conjugated into its passive form is 泣かれる. In Japanese, it often expresses that someone else’s crying affects or inconveniences the speaker. For example: • 子供に泣かれた。 • Literally: “I was cried at by the child.” • Natural English: “The child cried, and it troubled me.” Japanese sometimes uses passive forms like this to emphasize the emotional or personal impact of someone else’s actions, which doesn’t have a direct equivalent in English. Do you have any examples of Japanese passive verbs that don’t make sense in English or your native language?⠀ #LearnJapanese⠀ #JapaneseLanguageJourney⠀ #LanguageLearningCommunity⠀ #StudyJapanese⠀ #PolyglotGoals
