Fun fact: Of all the schools I’ve visited, Bukit Batok Secondary School has the most fish I’ve ever seen in a school pond! 🐟 The school is located in a place that holds great historical significance for Singapore. Bukit Batok is not just a vibrant township, but also home to the iconic Old Ford Factory, and Xiao Guilin. Founded in 1986, BBSS stands as a proud pillar in this community, with a heritage of serving and growing with the Bukit Batok community. I look forward to seeing how students here will grow to make a difference in our society and beyond! #ourschoolstories

A few weeks ago, I posted an Ask-me-Anything for all the questions you had for me. From questions about my school days to education policies, you asked, I answered. Thank you for sending in your questions, and let’s continue this journey of learning and growth together in 2025 💪🏼

Visited the University of the Arts Singapore (@uas.sg) recently. Solely dedicated to the creative field, it’s the first of its kind! LASALLE College of the Arts (@lasallesingapore) and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (@nafa_sg) are its partner schools. This expands the different artistic disciplines offered to its students: fine arts, musical theater, arts management, design communication… the list goes on (and on, and on) We will nurture the diverse abilities of our students, so that everyone has the best shot at becoming the best version of themselves. Check out snippets of my vibrant visit!

#guesswhere —————- Yes, the photos were taken at Singapore Institute of Technology. @singaporetech has recently received its TOP for the next phase and we are looking forward to welcoming the rest of the students and staff from middle of 2025.

Met Renee Tan, a Year 4 student from SMU’s College of Integrative Studies (CIS) majoring in Narrative Design in Global Cities, who presented a selection of artwork from her upcoming exhibition. Her pieces are part of her senior thesis, which delves into the Architecture of Aesthetics in Manila 🌆 Other @sgsmu.cis students majoring in courses ranging from Urban Development Governance to Human Computer Interfaces also shared their experience at CIS. CIS is one of SMU’s newest colleges - glad that students feel fulfilled and are growing up to be creative and critical thinkers - excited about the future.

It takes a village to raise a child — and a lot of teamwork too. We saw this in action - teachers and parents working together at @dazhong_primary_school to ease our kids into school, during the recent Primary 1 Orientation. This year, MOE and COMmunity and Parents in Support of Schools (COMPASS) teamed up with parents and educators to refresh the Guidelines for School-Home Partnerships (GSHP). Kids don’t come with a manual, but working together, we can make a good playbook on how parents and teachers can come together positively and respectfully. Here’s what we’re focusing on: 1️⃣ Role-modelling the values that matter (because actions speak louder than words!) 2️⃣ Helping our kids to build real friendships and healthy habits - especially in today’s digital age. 3️⃣ Keeping the conversation between parents and educators kind and constructive, because all of us are on the same team of helping our kids realise their fullest potential. We can raise a happy, confident and kind generation together. https://go.gov.sg/refreshed-guidelines-for-school-home-partnerships

Celebrating 10 whole years of service learning at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS). This involves over 120 community partners. 100% of undergrads participate. Beyond just numbers, these students tell us why their experiences count for more 😊

Singapore’s results at the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) are encouraging, and underscores how we must continue to embrace lifelong learning as a nation. The study assessed adults across the world in their literacy, numeracy and adaptive problem-solving proficiencies, key information processing skills that enable adults to continue to learn and apply new knowledge and skills throughout their careers. Our rankings in literacy and numeracy have risen compared to our results in 2016, and our score in adaptive problem-solving is comparable to the OECD mean. But we cannot be complacent. For Singaporeans to remain relevant even after our formal schooling years, we must guard against any decline in proficiencies over time, and continue to upskill and reskill to gain new skills. Only then will our people thrive even in an ever-changing world. The Government will continue to support Singaporeans in pursuing skills upgrading, by providing workplace training opportunities. Visit the SkillsFuture website to learn more about the different initiatives that you can tap on to start your upskilling journey: https://www.skillsfuture.gov.sg 📷: @lifelonglearninginstitute

When our education sector and industries team up, they equip our students with the skills and experiences needed for the future. Visited @singaporetech recently and spoke with industry partners, students and SIT success coaches. We discussed how workplace exposure allows students to contextualise their learning and bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace demands. These collaborations are not just about equipping students with technical skills - they are about fostering resilience, adaptability - and they deepen the spirit of lifelong learning in all of us.

Good weekend in @mybuonavista, meeting our residents and business owners at Holland Village and Holland Drive Market & Food Centre. Wishing you a wonderful Sunday too! ✨
