Seventeen years ago I started this journey not knowing where it would take me. I had no idea that this fitness experience that I fell in love with would take me to over 100 different countries where I would meet thousands of absolutely incredible people. I never had any ambition for Zumba. My only goal was to be the best instructor that I could be, share what I had received (the joy, confidence, freedom) with others, along with anything else that I know or have learned that could be helpful: in Zumba and in life. This remains my goal to this day. My goal when teaching is not that you would think that “I” am amazing, but you would feel how amazing YOU are! My goal is help YOU feel more confident, YOU feel sexier than you did when you walked in, YOU to feel uplifted and supported: for YOU to shine. And when you do, I am truly in my happy place. Thank you to every single person that I have encountered over this past year, every hug, every conversation, every tear, every moment means the world to me and I look forward to many more. “Let me tell you what they said about you!” In my travels recently, I’ve been hearing about things people have been saying about me that just aren’t true. People that I would think of as friends who are apparently saying things about that they know are bold face lies, but they are saying it anyway, sometimes even in public forums! Yeah. I think we have all had this happen at some point in time or another. So, what do I do? Do I stoop to their level and call them out publicly? Do I confront them? Do I cut them out of my life? Do I ignore them? Do I forgive them? Well, I don’t know your situation exactly or the depth of relationship you have with them. Is their relationship important to you? Then fight for it! Confront them lovingly, give them a chance to explain themselves, and then forgive them. Is it someone who is just an acquaintance? Dont waste your time, breath or energy. Forgive them and keep moving on with your life. Do not give them the pleasure of seeing the result they were after: bringing you down. Keep rising. Keep shining! However, just because you forgive someone, doesn’t mean that you are not fully aware of the kind of person they are, and will adjust your actions accordingly. When they show you who they are, believe them. What about what they said? Your character is stronger than your reputation. Your reputation is what others say about you. Your character is who you really are! Your character will always outshine and win over what others say about you. Those who know you will instantly know the truth anyway.
