Were you aware that migraines have different phases? And do you understand what is happenning in each phase and the symptoms connected to it? The attack phase is just ONE aspect of it, as symptoms can start days before and last days after. And understanding this can help a great deal when it comes to treatment. As part of my vestibular migraine workshop, we will discuss this and create a personalized phase chart of what YOUR migraine attacks look like. ✨Want to get in on this workshop? PPPD (Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness) is a misunderstood condition — and with that comes a lot of myths. ❌ Myth: “It’s all psychological.” ❌ Myth: “It’s just stress.” ❌ Myth: “You just need to snap out of it.” Bottom Line: PPPD is real. It’s exhausting. And it’s treatable. Let’s replace stigma with science — and shame with support 💙 ✨ Comment PPPD below and I'll send you my full blog post on this condition! ✨ #PPPD #MythVsFact #PersistentDizziness #HealingVertigo #VestibularDisorderAwareness #FunctionalNeurologicalDisorder #DizzyButDetermined #YouAreNotImaginingIt #InvisibleIllness #BrainBasedNotMadeUp #VestibularHealth #balance #vestibularrehab #dizzy #vestibularrehabilitation #vestibular #dizziness

Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD) is a chronic condition that causes a constant sense of rocking, swaying, or unsteadiness—especially when standing, walking, or in visually busy environments (like grocery store aisles or scrolling on your phone). You might feel like you're on a boat, even though everything around you is still. This isn’t “just anxiety” or something in your head. PPPD often develops after a vestibular event like BPPV, vestibular neuritis, or concussion. It can also be triggered by migraines or periods of intense stress. ✨ The good news? PPPD is treatable. Treatment usually includes: ✔️ Education (understanding the condition reduces fear) ✔️ Vestibular physiotherapy (otolith training, visual motion desentiziation, and reducing visual dependency) ✔️ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (to reduce threat-based responses) ✔️ Sometimes medication to support your nervous system Recovery isn’t instant—but it’s possible with the right support and consistent steps. You are not alone in this! 🔖 Save this post to come back to if you’re feeling misunderstood or unsure about your vestibular disorder. When my Dad had a fall while cycling (don't worry, he's ok!) it made me look more into cycling helmets and the new technology available. It also led me on a path that was a little disappointing! I always thought helmet's were protecting us from concussions, but research says otherwise. They absolutely protect us from serious head injuries like skull fracture or severe brain injuries, so don't you stop wearing a helmet! BUT, what was surprising was that mild head injuries such as a concussion were still possible even when wearing a helmet. I wanted to point this out so that in the unfortunate circumstance you do sustain a fall while cycling, keep an eye out for early concussion symptoms and plan to have screening done by a healthcare professional who understands concussions. Early management is incredibly helpful in concussion recovery! #cycling #cyclinglife #cyclingstyle #helmet #helmets #helmetsafety #helmetdesign #cyclinghelmet #cyclinghelmets #concussion #ConcussionCare #concussionrehab #concussionssuck #concussiontherapy #concussionrecovery #concussionsymptoms #concussionawareness #concussiontreatment

🌀 Epley vs. BBQ Roll — Which maneuver do you use? BPPV isn’t one-size-fits-all. The right repositioning technique depends on the canal involved and how your symptoms show up. 💡 This quick comparison breaks down when to use the Epley (posterior canal) vs. the BBQ Roll (horizontal canal). If you're unsure which one applies to you — a vestibular therapist or the Healing Vertigo App can help you figure it out! ✨Comment "BPPV" below and I'll send you the App details, as well as my free BPPV Masterclass! ✨ Have you tried either of these maneuvers before? For many people, the hardest part about vestibular migraine isn’t the dizziness, nausea or visual changes… It’s not being believed. It’s being misdiagnosed. This condition is frequently mistaken for: ❌ Anxiety - because of dizziness, disorientation, and the emotional toll ❌ BPPV - because of positional symptoms ❌ Ear infections - due to balance issues and inner ear complaints And while these conditions share overlapping symptoms, the treatments are completely different! Why Accurate Diagnosis Matters: - it validates your experience - it leads to targeted treatment options - it helps you understand your triggers and manage attacks - it reminds you: this is real and you’re not alone If you’re still on your path to answers, keep going. And if you’ve finally received your diagnosis, your story could help someone else finds theirs. What diagnoses did YOU hear before you heard “Vestibular Migraine”? ✨P.S.! Comment WAITLIST below if you want to stay in the know about my upcoming VM Workshop this fall! ✨ #vestibularmigraine #migraineawarenessmonth #migraineawareness #misdiagnosis #invisibleillness #VMisreal #dizzybutdetermined #migraines

Vestibular migraine affects millions—yet it often takes years to get a proper diagnosis. Here’s what the average journey can look like: 🌀 Symptom Onset Sudden dizziness, balance issues, or strange visual changes start appearing. Head pain may not even be part of it. ❓ First Doctor Visit Tests come back “normal.” Maybe you’re told it’s anxiety or stress. 🚑 ER Visits Flare-ups can be so intense they send you to the hospital. You’re told it’s an inner ear issue… or maybe BPPV. 🔁 Specialist Shuffle ENT → Neurologist → Cardiologist → Therapist → Repeat. Each one rules things out, but no one puts the pieces together. 📅 1 to 5 Years Later… You finally hear the words: “Vestibular Migraine.” And everything clicks. 🗣 This is not uncommon. Vestibular migraine is often misdiagnosed or missed completely—especially when head pain isn’t present. The earlier it’s identified, the sooner people can get the right treatment and support. 💛 If you're still searching for answers, don’t give up. 💛 If you've finally found your diagnosis, your story can help light the way for someone else. #VestibularMigraine #MigraineAwarenessMonth #DizzyButDetermined #VMisReal #MigraineWarrior #InvisibleIllness #HealingVertigo #DiagnosisJourney #NotJustInYourHead #Migraine #migrainerelief #migrainewarrior #vestibulardisorder #dizziness #migraineawareness #VertigoRelief
