🦞🦀 Melben Seafood is renowned for its sumptuous seafood dishes, and my recent visit to their Tanjong Pagar outlet did not disappoint. I visited with my family, and together we indulged in a seafood spread that showcased their mastery of seafood preparation. Melben’s crabs 🦀 are undoubtedly their signature dish, and we ordered a 0.9kg priced at $99, this crab that lived up to its reputation. The meat was succulent and sweet, perfectly paired with their rich milky broth. This dish alone was worth the visit. Lobster Paofan 🦞 is a luxurious take on a classic Teochew comfort dish, combining fresh & meaty lobster with rice submerged in a rich, umami-filled broth. The Turbot 🐟was another standout, priced at $201.60, the fish was cooked to perfection, with its tender texture and subtle yet flavorful seasoning that allowed the freshness of the fish to shine through! Additionally, their HUGE oysters 🦪 were plump and briny. The Crispy Lychee Prawn Balls 🦐 were a creative twist on the classic prawn dish, offering a unique burst of flavor with every bite. For some greens, we had the Broccoli with Shimeji Mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 🥦. The broccoli was cooked to a vibrant green and retained its crunch, while the earthy mushrooms added depth to the dish. The Garlic Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs 🐷 also deserve a mention for their bold flavors and tender texture, not to mention how big the ribs was. While Melben Seafood leans on the pricier side, the quality of the seafood and the generous portions justify the cost. With a total bill of $1065 for 6 people, this was truly a feast. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy fresh, flavorful seafood with friends or family, Melben Seafood is a solid choice.

Wen Zhang Lao Mian founded in China back in 2017. It has earned a name for itself as a noodle-making and soup specialist, delivering flavors that are both comforting and creative. Now in Singapore, the restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for casual meals or gatherings with friends and family. Their signature dishes such as their Tomato Soup with Crispy Pork Noodle 🍜 has a tangy tomato broth and crispy pork that adds just the right crunch. If you’re a fan of simpler dishes, the Scallion Oil Shrimp Dry Noodle 🍜 is a winner. It’s all about balance, with aromatic scallion oil and fresh shrimp making every bite satisfying. But Wen Zhang Lao Mian isn’t just about noodles. Dishes like the Sour Spicy Fish 🐟 bring a bold, tangy broth with a numbing Sichuan kick that’s hard to resist. For garlic lovers, the Prawn and Vermicelli with Garlic in Casserole delivers juicy prawns 🦐 paired with garlicky, flavor-packed vermicelli. Even vegetarians have plenty to look forward to, like the Fish-Flavoured Eggplant Casserole 🍆, tender eggplant in a spicy fish sauce.. Sinpopo has 1 of the best lo hei platters I’ve ever tried! The Sinpopo Lo Hei Platter truly exceeded my expectations. There’s a generous serving of salmon, the sweetness of the Sinpopo Fortune Plum Dressing pairs beautifully with the shredded carrots, crispy crackers, and other fresh ingredients. What truly set it apart for me were the jackfruit slices, which added a natural sweetness that elevated the entire dish. The touch of mint provided a refreshing twist, enhancing the vibrant flavors. Another highlight was the Lady Finger & Eggplant Sambal. Cooked to perfection, the sambal was rich, spicy, and wonderfully aromatic. The grilled eggplant just melts in my mouth, while the lady fingers were crisp. The dish balanced bold flavors and textures impeccably, leaving me craving for more. I also tried a variety of dishes, including Babi Pongteh, Hainanese Chicken Curry, Hee Peow Soup, Ngoh Hiang, Chilli Pomfret, Nonya Chap Chye, Assam Sotong Bakar, Sambal Prawn, and the Sinpopo Kueh Platter. WHO KNEW TATER TOTS COULD TASTE THIS GOOD ⁉️ The Miso Maple Tater Tots 🥔 ($12.80) at @rei.restobar hit the perfect sweet-savory balance, making this dish a MUST-TRY. Seriously, it is SOOO ADDICTIVE. If you’re in the mood for something light yet flavorful, the Salmon Tartare Cornets 🐟 ($16) are a great choice. These cones are filled with salmon, mango, coriander, and a hint of avocado wasabi, creating a refreshing and well-balanced bite. It’s a small package of bold flavors that left a lasting impression. The Anchovy Butter Roasted Cauliflower 🥦 ($18) made of anchovy brown butter emulsion and shaved parmesan is flavourful. While the flavors are good, I did wish the cauliflower had a bit more crunch. That said, if you prefer the cauliflower to be soft, this might be perfect for you. Either way, it’s worth a try! Seafood lovers should dive straight into the Sakura Ebi Seafood Linguine 🍝 ($26). I had the pleasure of indulging in their food such as the briny Hygge Oysters 🦪($35/6pcs), the fresh and flavorful Bluefin Tuna Tartare 🐟 ($25/3pcs), the comforting House Poke Don 🍣($29), and the Salmon Hotate Truffle Somen 🍜 ($29). While everything was a treat, the somen stood out for me. It’s simple yet satisfying, with just a delicate hint of truffle that leaves you wanting more. The experience wouldn’t be complete without exploring the brilliant creations of newly appointed mixology maestro, Mark Ng. His inventive twists on classic cocktails are nothing short of extraordinary. Check out their Hojicha Old Fashioned 🥃 or Plum Passion 🍸 if you are looking for something strong. My personal favorite? The Cliff nestled within the lush surroundings of Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa offers a perfect blend of food, stunning views, and charming ambiance, making every celebration feel extraordinary. Club Matera’s pop-up showcases the brilliance of Michelin-starred Chef Bjoern Alexander, bringing a modern Asian twist to Italian cuisine, alongside Chef de Cuisine Paolo Benedet’s mastery of authentic Southern Italian flavors that The Cliff is famous for. 🌟🍝 The meal kicked off with a smoky and tender Grilled Octopus 🐙($42), followed by a classic Margherita Pizza 🍕($32). The Marinated Seabass 🐟 ($48) stood out with its fresh and light flavors, while the Spaghettini 🍝 ($44), featuring homemade pasta with crab, chili, and tomato, was a hearty and flavorful highlight. To end on a sweet note, the tangy Lemon Tart🍋 ($20), topped with meringue and yogurt ice cream, was refreshing, but the real star for me was the Affogato ☕️($22), my favorite of the 2 desserts. While the food didn’t completely wow me, the stunning panoramic views and relaxed atmosphere made it a birthday to remember.
