It’s time to start thinking about Thanksgiving turkeys! We have five birds left: weights are as follows: two 26lbs, 24 lbs, 19 lbs, and 17lbs. They’re frozen and triple wrapped in freezer paper. They’re going for eight 💰 a lb. These guys have spent their lives living as a Turkey should, tootling around the pasture, eating bugs, and begging at the garden fence for me to throw extra tomatoes their way. And as a result they’re some of the best turkey you’ll ever taste. Let me know if you want one. These are the only sizes I have left. Local pickup anytime between now and Thanksgiving- sorry, we can’t ship.

We took a gamble with a new tomato variety this year, and it definitely worked out. I planted an entire row of the Estiva F1 hybrid from Johnny seeds. They worked out great and I will be planting this one again. #csafarm #organictomatoes #gardening101

CSA week 10! It’s our second to last week of the regular season. This week’s boxes had: -mixed curly kale -rhubarb -tomatoes (2 kinds) -peppers (including chilis) -zucchini or cucumbers -parsley -sage I sent out the CSA email last night and the lineup had celery in it- yet today’s boxes don’t have celery. A lot of you know that I live with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and today is a crutches day, and the celery is in the back of the field, so it gets to stay growing until next week. I’m very grateful for our awesome CSA customers who are cool with last minute changes 💚 #csafarm #knowyourfarmer #edsawareness

CSA week 7: we’re more than halfway through the season! My neighbors have a whole row of organic grapes, and I swap veggies for grapes for our CSA baskets each year. This week members received: -grapes -salad greens (baby lettuce) -cherry tomatoes -basil (shown is purple) -zucchini -assorted peppers -beets or radish (shown is radish) Probably the hardest part of running a CSA program is managing all the different crops simultaneously. We have 50 different types of veggies we’re growing each year. We’ve had a helluva time with our root crops this season. The spring beets and carrots were not happy with the sudden heat and barely produced. While I’m definitely feeling the strain of not having an entire category of crops to pull from, the fruit has made up for it this year! #csafarm #knowyourfarmer #organicveggies

CSA week 6: the peaches are ripening! This week was just a teaser for peaches, but it’s going to be an awesome year for them! This week members received: -salad sprouts (this was the most beautiful batch I’ve had in awhile🤩) -peaches -summer squash -lacinto kale -tomatoes -peppers -parsley Sprouts weeks are the only time we use plastic in our CSA. I haven’t found another effective way to transfer sprouts without making a huge mess. We do sprouts twice a season, so this is it for sprouts unless members really want them again. Next week is grapes! 🍇 #csafarm #knowyourfarmer #organicveggies

This week’s baskets included: HMC cantaloupe Mixed curly kale Zucchini Tomatoes Peppers And either tea herbs: lemongrass and mint Or savory herbs: thyme and sage Let me just tell you, the truck smelled AMAZING when I was out delivering boxes! #knowyourfarmer #csafarm #organicproduce

Week 4 CSA: we were never supposed to feel like we have to do it all ourselves, and this applies to food too. This week we feature eggs from our next door neighbor’s farm. Her chickens are the happiest, most loved, and completely free range birds I’ve ever met. (Seriously, my chickens probably wish they lived at her house😂). And the eggs are gorgeous! This week’s box featured: Dozen eggs, purple cabbage or kale, red lettuce, zucchini, tomatoes, Italian sweet peppers and jalapeños, basil, and rosemary. And do you see all that purple?! Purple veggies are my favorite 🤩😍 #knowyourfarmer #csafarm #purpleveggies #organicveggies

CSA week 3: it’s potato week! Did you know that potatoes are one of the most chemically contaminated crops in the U.S.? Not ours though! We harvested our organic potatoes last night and they’re gorgeous (And delicious) This week our CSA members received: 3lbs mixed color potatoes, salad sprouts, butter leaf lettuce, parsley, chives, and the very first of the tomato and zucchini harvest (those two crops are about to start harvesting like crazy!) we also tucked some purple chilis into the boxes for extra color and a little 🔥 This was the last of the spring lettuce, but we’ve already started the fall lettuce babies. 💚 #knowyourfarmer #csafarm #organicgardening

Week 2: CSA. Our weekly share included lacinto kale, rhubarb, Bibb lettuce, cabbage, basil, and thyme This week went a little differently than planned. I work really hard to make sure we have some color in each box, and we were supposed to have those purple Napa cabbages in this week’s box. But the heat destroyed our entire crop. They were perfect over the weekend, but yesterday when I went out to harvest to discover the inside of the cabbages had turned to mush- the entire crop. Not gonna lie, I cried a little. We’ll try again with a fall crop as those cabbages were so beautiful 💜 Stay cool out there, friends.☀️🥵 #knowyourfarmer #eatlocal #csafarm
