Thermal camera for home inspections? Welcome to the real world I wish the real world was like Instagram where all the builders use high end materials and do proper finishes! But I guess the reason your favourite creators are popular is because they do great work and build custom homes using high end materials. In the real world subdivisions & cookie cutter houses are going up quicker then your tax bill pal and very little to no effort is being used in these builds! For example this is a million dollar house built only a few years ago! There is street after street of these exact houses all of them will share the same issues and have many details overlooked! Typically how this detail is done on these cheap builds is the insulators will add a strip of vapour barrier around the inside of the rough window opening that strip will be taped inside to the vapour barrier and outside to the house wrap I know this because instead of going to high school I worked for a local insulation company and my boss was strict about these window opening details as it was something our local inspector was always looking out for and I have done many myself over the years! Seems like these days they overlook a lot and for guys like me who work on it next it puts us in a position where an issue down the road with poor building practice can reflect back on us as the last people to work on it! Our main focus around windows is water penetration and air seal in this case we can only do so much but it’s definitely an improvement! I like this profile a lot and I have a couple ways to improve it next time I use it! 🤟 Decided to incorporate the j channel into this drip cap for a garage door detail. The vertical board and batten vinyl siding requires a j channel at the bottom and not a starter strip! We always drill weeping holes into our j channel when using it in this application the 1 piece design is arguably quicker to bend up then 2 pieces and of course it installs faster then a foot race, Pal!
