Hello to everyone new! 👋👋👋 Here’s where I am on the journey, but this is just an inside tour, I can’t wait to show you the garden and driveway too! 😅🫣 We’re not extending or adding any extra bedrooms. We don’t have the budget for skylights or anything from architectural digest, but we have big hopes and dreams to make this house a dream home. My family said I shouldn’t buy this house, and sometimes… I wonder if they’re right 😬😬😬 At £440,000 it was at the top of my budget to buy, so I’m hoping to put my life’s saving in and get back up to a wonderful standard for me to grow my family in. I love panelling, neutral colours and second hand finds. I hate spending money so will do most work myself if I can. Did you know this house cost this much? Do you think I spent too much on it?!? Quick Guide to Using High-Performance Floor Compound Self-Leveler 1. Prep the Floor Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and free of dust or debris. Fill any large gaps or cracks. 2. Prime the Surface Apply a suitable primer and let it dry fully—this helps the compound bond properly. 3. Mix the Compound Follow the instructions to mix Setcrete with water until smooth. Use a mixing paddle for best results. 4. Pour and Spread Pour the compound onto the floor and spread it evenly with a trowel or smoother. Work quickly, as it starts setting fast. 5. Let It Self-Level Allow the compound to flow and level itself out. Don’t overwork it. 6. Remove Air Bubbles Use a spiked roller to eliminate any trapped air bubbles. 7. Drying Time Let it cure for the recommended time before walking on it or installing flooring. Quick Guide to Creating Tongue-and-Groove Effect Panelling with a Ryobi Router 1. Safety First Wear a dust mask and goggles. MDF dust is harmful, so ventilate the area. 2. Set Up the Jig Attach your Ryobi handheld router to a timber jig or track adapter for straight cuts. 3. Mark and Measure Space groove lines 100-150mm apart and mark them on 6mm MDF. 4. Router the Grooves Set the router depth to 3-4mm. Run the router steadily along the jig to cut grooves. 5. Create Bevelled Edges Router a slight bevel on the edges for seamless joins. 6. Sand the Grooves Lightly sand to smooth out any rough edges. 7. Attach the Panels Nail the panels to the wall—skip adhesive to avoid wall damage later. Step-by-Step Guide to Sealing Sanded Floorboards with @osmo_uk Oil 1. Prepare the Floorboards Ensure the floorboards are completely sanded, smooth, and free of any old finishes. Vacuum thoroughly to remove all dust and debris, then wipe down with a damp (not wet) cloth to pick up any remaining particles. 2. Choose the Right @osmo_uk Oil Select the appropriate Osmo Oil for your floor type—options include clear, tinted, or hardwax oil, depending on your desired finish. Make sure it’s suitable for wood floors. 3. Stir the Oil Well Open the tin and give the Osmo Oil a good stir. This ensures an even consistency, as the ingredients can settle over time 4. Apply the First Coat • Use a brush or microfibre roller to apply a thin, even coat of Osmo Oil along the grain of the wood. • Start in a corner and work your way out to avoid stepping on freshly treated areas. • Avoid applying too much—thin coats are better for absorption and drying. 5. Let It Soak In Allow the oil to soak into the wood for about 10-15 minutes. If you notice any areas where the oil has pooled, wipe away the excess with a clean cloth. 6. Leave to Dry Let the first coat dry for at least 8-10 hours (or as directed on the tin). Ensure the room is well-ventilated during this time to speed up the drying process. 7. Lightly Sand Between Coats Once the first coat is dry, lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper (e.g., 320-grit) or a sanding pad. This helps smooth out any raised wood fibres. Vacuum up any dust afterward. 8. Apply the Second Coat Repeat the same process as the first coat—apply a thin, even layer of Osmo Oil and wipe away any excess. This second coat ensures better protection and a richer finish. 9. Final Drying Period Allow the floor to dry for another 8-10 hours. Avoid walking on the surface during this time. For best results, let it cure fully for 24 hours before moving furniture back in. 10. Maintenance Tips • Clean with a damp mop and Osmo-specific cleaner to maintain the finish. • Reapply a maintenance coat every couple of years to keep the floor looking fresh and protected.
