Walking is a great way to stay fit - both physically and mentally. Even a short walk around the block can lower stress levels and help clear the mind. Last month Sophie’s Legacy registered a team for the Billion Steps Challenge in SA and clocked almost 2.5 million steps 👟👏 Each participant averaged more than 200,000 steps! It’s a fantastic effort and we thank them for raising awareness about the importance of keeping your mental and physical health in check
Fostering better workplace culture and working environments for veterinary professionals are things that Amy Hewitt is passionate about. She is also a huge advocate for better mental health support and ran 100km on RUOK? Day for Sophie’s Legacy this year. Sunflowers for her represent positivity, new beginnings and spring 🌻
At the beginning of the year, this group of (talented and very clever) strangers decided to immerse themselves in our charity as part of their group project for the Governor’s Leadership Foundation. They presented us with a comprehensive report that seeks to support the work, and long-term success, of Sophie’s Legacy by providing a roadmap for our organisation to prioritise and coordinate its efforts, and optimise its impact in improving outcomes for vet staff and the industry more broadly. We would like to congratulate Kirsty McMillan, Heather Holmes-Ross, Will Denny, Nyani Thomas Vanessa McDaid and Ginny Pasten in graduating from their program and we thank them for their commitment to our cause.
We’ve received an early Christmas present from Sanbury Animal Hospital, who have raised $1,450 through their Santa Paws Photo Shoot. We’re super grateful for their support and think it’s a wonderful way for clinics to have fun and raise money at the same time 🎄 🎅🏻 🤶 #christmas #pets #santapaws #mentalhealth
We are honoured to be one of 90 pet-passionate charities across Australia that will benefit from the @petbarn Tree of Hope appeal, which aims to raise $1.3m between now and Christmas. Anyone can donate any amount - big or small. In the first three weeks alone, more than $700,000 has been raised nationally. Here’s Jesse from the Norwood store with more information on how you can get involved. #treeofhope #pets #animals #dogs #cats #mentalhealth #vets #sophieslegacy
We are stoked to be one of 90 organisations that will benefit from Petbarn’s Tree of Hope appeal which aims to raise $1.3m in the lead up to Christmas. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will help support animals, pets and the incredible veterinary professionals who care for them. PS. In three weeks they’ve already raised more than $700k nationally!
Surround yourself with good people who lift you higher 🙌 A huge thanks to the SASH Adelaide Team for inviting us to be part of their first full day education seminar for vets and vet nurses. It was an insightful day with 11 live lectures and plenty of opportunities to network. All proceeds will be donated to Sophie’s Legacy so we are super grateful for their efforts 🙏
We are thrilled to have Stones Corner Veterinary Surgery support us in the lead up to Christmas through their Santa Paws fundraising drive. They’re hoping to raise $500 and are asking clients and other supporters to donate via gold coin donation, or online via the QR code. Their support means we can continue to be a strong voice for veterinary professionals.
Cost of living pressures are hurting many households but being kind is something we can all do, and it doesn’t cost a cent. Kindness can be a smile, polite conversation and gratitude. It’s something so simple, yet can have a profound impact on someone’s day.
Congratulations to Showpony who have won two awards for the Sophie’s Legacy LOST campaign at the Adelaide Advertising and Design Club Annual Awards. It’s the second time we’ve teamed up with this amazingly talented team - first for We’re Only Human and then for Lost. Both campaigns gained national and international traction. The Showpony team were compassionate, generous with their time and ideas and executed the brief perfectly. These are well-deserved accolades 👏
Take a listen to Garry on @abcadelaide breakfast radio where he and Sarah Game MLC talk about the significance of getting a parliamentary inquiry into the veterinary profession. Sarah was once a vet and understands the pressures that Sophie faced. Link in bio.
