ONE YEAR OF PELICAN HOUSE. This month marks one year since we officially launched - what a year it has been! From launching our first rug collection, Artis, and our inaugural woven art collection, to working closely with interior designers on bespoke projects, it’s been amazing to see our hand-crafted pieces find their place in so many homes, hotels and restaurants around the world. None of this would have been possible without the incredible skill of our artisans, whose craftsmanship is the foundation of every piece we create. We’re grateful for the support of @labelstep and @goodweave_intl, who ensure ethical practices and safe working conditions for the artisans who make our rugs. A special thank you to the excellent brands and designers we’ve collaborated with for collections: @barlowandbarlow, @indie.and.co, @camillaguinness, and @tart_london. Their creativity has helped us explore new textures, shapes, and patterns, pushing our collections further. And finally, a huge thank you to our lovely reps at @the_re_agency who we began working with since Spring. With them, we’ve seen wonderful features in @homesandgardensofficial @livingetcofficial @redmagazine @sheerluxe @stylistmagazine @homes_antiques @englishhomemag @houseandgardenuk @reclaimmag —and more. At Pelican House, we’re cautious about using the term “sustainable” and believe in being transparent about our journey towards greater sustainability, while acknowledging the challenges we face as a young design studio. The truth is, achieving full sustainability in the rug industry is complex, but we are committed to making thoughtful, informed decisions and continuously reassessing our practices. By working closely with our rug partners and identifying crucial areas for improvement, we set clear goals to make meaningful progress year after year. As our team grows, we aim to pursue official environmental qualifications while remaining accountable to responsible design and mindful craftsmanship. True sustainability, for us, is an ecosystem where everyone thrives—our artisans, partners, and customers. Supporting and protecting our artisans is at the heart of what we do, fostering ethical growth that is measurable not only in commercial terms but also in ecological and social impact. This is done with the help of @labelstep and @goodweave_intl. FLOWER COMPASS. Created in collaboration with @natashahulse_design. Drawing on medieval mythology and nature, Flower Compass blends intricate floral patterns with rich, historical colourways. Inspired by the Compass Rose, a symbol of direction and discovery, the design features imagined blooms and a hidden snail motif, representing resilience and strength. Its palette of deep reds, greens, blues, and golden yellows echoes the richness of medieval tapestries and stained glass. We’re so proud of this collaboration, and we had a wonderful time previewing it amongst an intimate audience of clients and friends last week. NATASHA HULSE x PELICAN HOUSE. Yesterday we excitedly welcomed our clients and friends to the newly reopened Kensington Roof Gardens for a festive preview of Flower Compass, our collaboration with the incredibly talented @natashahulse_design. NATASHA HULSE. It’s an exciting week at the Pelican House studio. Closely following the launch of our woven art pieces, we’re incredibly close to sharing what we’ve been working on with the wonderful @natashahulse_design. This collaboration draws inspiration from medieval mythology and symbolism, and combines our collective appreciation for nature, mysticism, and artistry. Crucially too, it’s a testament to our shared commitments to preserving traditional craftsmanship and ethical production. Our brand-new Woven Art Minis are now available to preorder on our site. Each of the four designs draws from “Wild Things,” a bespoke piece we originally created in collaboration with @tart_london. Blending medieval and mythical elements against a crimson backdrop, these fantastical jute woven pieces bring a unique flare of magic to any space.  The pieces come in sizes 70 x 100 cm, 80 x 80 cm, and 40 x 40 cm. BYROTATION POP-UP. We’re delighted to have supplied rugs for @byrotation’s London pop-up. We’re thrilled to be part of The Maison pop-up, curated and hosted by the wonderful @harrietrosebery and @ircaci. Back for a second year following the success of the first, the pop-up showcases the work of brilliant artisans and makers across 10 days in @degournay’s London showroom. For the occasion, we produced a custom rug, hand-knotted in silk and wool, inspired by a multitude of antique pieces and designs from @harrietrosebery and @ircaci’s archives. ALES. From our inaugural woven art collection, Ales is inspired by a deep fascination with birds and their timeless bond with humanity. The Ibis depicted in this design, was revered in ancient Egypt, closely associated with the deity Thoth, symbolising wisdom and knowledge.
