Come make my favorite sourdough starter recipe! Day 1: begins with a combination of 1/4 cup all purpose flour and 1/4 cup whole wheat flour. Add 1/4 cup lukewarm water to the flour and stir until no flour is left. The dough will look like thick paste. Don’t worry this is normal! Cover your jar and allow to sit in a warm location, I keep mine on the kitchen counter next to my stove. Cover the jar with a towel, plastic wrap, coffee filter with rubber band or cheese cloth for 24 hours. Day 2: check to see if your starter has bubbles and has doubled in volume. If it looks the same, cover and allow to sit for another day. Day 3: once your starter has lots of bubbles forming, it’s time to feed. Discard half of the starter and add 1/2 cup of all purpose flour and 1/4 cup of lukewarm water. Stir until all the flour is incorporated. You can add a little more water if need be but you do want that thick paste like consistency. Loosely cover and allow to rest for another 24 hours. Day 4: Repeat! Discard half of the sourdough starter and add 1/2 cup of all purpose flour and 1/4 cup of lukewarm water. Stir until the flour is thoroughly combined and it is a paste like consistency. Loosely cover and allow to rest for 24 hours. Day 5-8: Continue discarding 1/2 of the starter and feeding it each day. Watch how the starter rises and becomes bubbly and active. By day 8 your sourdough starter is strong and ready to use for a freshly baked loaf of sourdough bread! Once you have an active starter, you are now able to save your discard. You can save discard by keeping it in the fridge in an airtight container. There are lots of great sourdough discard recipes (look in my reels for a few yummy ones to try!) To know when your starter is at its peak and ready to be used, it should be at its peak rise, and have a domed like shape to it. Check out my reel explaining how to know when your sourdough starter is ready to use. ✨follow along for more homestead recipes✨ #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbaking #sourdoughclub #homesteadlife #homesteading

Did someone say grab-n-go cinnamon roll muffins?? Not only will these be a hit for the holidays but they are perfect year round! Simply use my sourdough cinnamon roll recipe and once you’ve cut the cinnamon rolls, place them in a muffin pan lined with cupcake liners. For reference I used jumbo muffin liners and a jumbo muffin baking pan but you can do this with a standard size or even mini! Comment “cookbook” for my sourdough cinnamon roll recipe! For the icing: 1 cup powdered sugar 1 tbsp melted butter 1-2 tbsp heavy cream 1 tsp vanilla extract Directions: mix everything together until there are no more clumps. Dip cooled cinnamon roll muffins in the icing. Let set and enjoy! #christmasbaking #christmasfood #homemaker #holidaybaking #sourdough #sourdoughbaking #homesteading

It seemed like the harder I forced perfectionism in my house, the more I noticed that I was forcing my kids to grow up faster then they should. We are in a season of messes, spilled milk, crumb trails, fingerprints on windows, splashing in puddles, playing in mud, toys scattered on the floor and everything in between. If you stop to see the beauty within the mess, you’ll realize they don’t need perfect…they just need you. #homesteadlife #homesteading #farmkids #ranchlife #farmlife

No one wakes up asking for anxiety, brain fog, stress, digestive issues, low energy, hormonal imbalances and irritable snappy mood….yet so many of us do. I was tired of reaching for the “quick fixes” caffeine, tums, anti acids, laxatives, fiber drinks, etc. because all they were doing was masking what was really happening on the inside. Once I got to the root cause and started addressing my gut microbiome, gut brain axis and the body as a whole - that’s when things shifted. My FAVORITE natural holistic solutions are having a Black Friday sale!👇🏻 Comment “Sale” for the link and how I naturally balanced my gut! #homesteadlife #guthealth #mentalhealth #homemaker #homesteading

I bet you had a sneaky feeling this is you too…👇🏻 🚩gut was out of balance 🚩cortisol was through the roof All this had me clinging onto inflammation, poor digestion, always exhausted, struggling with anxiety, awful sleep and feeling unhappy. Cortisol - your stress hormone - negatively impacts every hormone, neurotransmitter, immune pathway and signaling system in your body when it’s elevated for long periods of time. You can eat the healthy food, exercise and even take massive amounts of vitamins but if you don’t address your stress response, it’s like spraying a squirt bottle on a bonfire. Once I balanced my gut + cortisol levels, I finally watched my symptoms disappear. My FAVORITE natural holistic solutions are on SALE!! Comment “Sale” and I will send you the link to 30% OFF my favorite gut balancing solution! #guthealth #mentalwellness #mentalwellbeing #homesteadlife #homemaker #cortisol #guthealthmatters
