I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You don’t need a lot of land to Homestead. The most sustainable model of homesteading is 1 acre or less. Running a small scale farm even in an urban area is possible.

Get out there and find your people. Special people on your life are far too rare. Common ground is a great place to start from. Also if someone doesn’t have the same messed up sense of humor as you, are you even friends?

So you like uh… wanna move to a tiny town… in a new state…. And do something totally crazy that we have no idea how to do?? Answer: you bet your sweet bippy I do. I did this audio early on, but I love it so much that I wanted to redo it now that I have a little more practice making reels. #reels #reelsinstagram #chicken #chickensofinstagram #petchickens #ilovechickens #chickensofig #chickens #chickenkeeping #backyardchicken #backyardchickensofinstagram #lovemychickens #freerangechickens #petchickensofinstagram #freerange #farm #farmer #farmlife #farmhouse #familyfarm #family #love #nature #homestead #homesteading #sustainable #sustainability

Healing is a journey and I didn’t even realize when mine started. This lifestyle heals. It fixed parts of me I couldn’t even see were broken. Homesteading has been a cure on so many levels.

I have teamed up with the amazing @greenhorngrove to get quilts to those in need! So let’s show him how awesome our quilting community is! As you know so many families lost everything in North Carolina (and other places) this year. These families need our help! And it’s time to act. In fact it’s past time to act. Our friends and neighbors in NC need us. So send a quilt and let’s show them our love. Matthew and his team are in the process of fixing up and remodeling campers for families who have nothing. Let’s deck them out with quilts they will love! Please share this post and tag us! Help spread the word and get this started! #autumnhollwpatchwork #quilting #quiltingcommunity #nc #northcarolina #quiltingdonation #quiltersgonnaquilt #quiltlove #homestead #moda #rileyblakedesigns #showmethemoda #america #usa #americanpride

Throwback Thursday! This is my most popular post of all time and the subject I talk about when I speak at conferences. The 6 Pillars of homesteading. From chickens to gardens and back again.

It’s so important to be a force for good in the world so I just want to make sure you don’t unwittingly fall prey to bad actors while trying to shine your light on the world. Go to www.givesendgo.com/operationshelter to help.

@defendbytactacam is my favorite new way of keeping an eye on things. Honestly, I love seeing all my animal friends here on the property. It’s really cool being able to pick up videos of them off the app. It’s a side of my land I never saw before.

The rise of the toolbelt generation is, to me, a sign that the wave of thought that has dominated for so long has crested, and is rolling back out, while a new wave rolls in.

If FEMA won’t get it done, then Operation Shelter and Here We Grow will do it ourselves. My personal goal is for our team to place more families than FEMA can. And if we lose all those families still win. I’m a competitive guy but thats a contest I’d be okay with. Goto www.givesendgo.com/operationshelter to donate

Throwback Thursday!! This one is a classic. If the first time I posted it is any clue as to the comments, we will see about 1,000 millennial that need to correct me about how long they had the internet. Or to put a cross brace on the gate (which is still sag free without one)…Meh… whatever. Engagement is engagement 🤣😂😁

You’re gonna want to do it all when you move to the homestead. You’re going to want to do it all, but take my advice, do less.
