#BREAKING: NSW bans puppy farming! 🎉🐶 This is a monumental day for dogs, and dog lovers. Thank you to everyone who made this happen! This has been a win decades in the making. Special shoutout to @oscarslawinc for all their dedicated campaigning and showing the cruel realities of puppy farming through their investigations, and to @emma.hurst from @animaljusticepartynsw for championing this cause. FOUR PAWS has been fighting the cruel trade in dogs and puppies for years, exposing illegal breeding and the sale of dogs through online platforms, Facebook, and Instagram globally. We are thrilled to see the new NSW bill includes a key component of our campaign: a mandatory breeder identification system, ensuring greater traceability on dog breeders. We advocated for this both in our written submission and at the 2021 #NSW inquiry into puppy farming. This new legislation is a very strong step in the right direction and we thank the Labor Party @nswlabor for introducing this bill and recognising the important part dogs play in our lives as beloved family members worthy of protection under the law. As an animal welfare organisation we will continue to push for further protections including a lower cap on breeding dogs and a ban on the sale of dogs and pups in pet shops. We will keep fighting for these changes and we will be watching closely and monitoring the implementation and importantly the enforcement of this bill. But for today we celebrate this win for the dogs! . . . #NSWPuppyFarmBan #StopPuppyFarms #AnimalWelfare #DogProtection #AnimalRights #VictoryForDogs #ResponsibleBreeding #SaveTheDogs #PawsitiveChange #AnimalLawReform #NSWPolitics #DogWelfare #EndPuppyMills #AdoptDontShop #AnimalJustice #DogLover #PuppyFarmFree #AnimalProtection #AnimalActivists

#Flashback to 2017: 13 animals rescued from Syria. In July 2017, our team led by Dr. Amir Khalil rescued the surviving animals from the “Magic World” recreational park in war-torn Aleppo, Syria. 🦁🐻 The exhausted animals who have been through so much terror were first transported to the Turkish town of Karacabey for a few weeks of recovery from the strain of the rescue operation and above all from the trauma suffered during the war. 💔 Finally, after a long journey, the 13 animals arrived safely at Al Ma'wa for Nature and Wildlife (@almawa.jordan). Six years on, these survivors including hyena Cassie, lions Hamzeh, Kahrba, Dana, Halab, and black bears Loz & Sukkar are thriving in peace and safety in their happy species-appropriate home. 🌳 We couldn’t be happier seeing them flourish at their forever home. . . . #AnimalRescue #WarZone #WildlifeRescue #AnimalSanctuary #SaveTheAnimals #LionRescue #BearRescue #AnimalWelfare #WildlifeConservation #AnimalProtection #FlashbackFriday #RescuedAnimals #SanctuaryLife #AnimalLovers #WildlifeWarriors #SaveLions #SaveBears #PeaceForAnimals #AnimalRights #HopeForAnimals #Syria

A Second Chance for Foxes Mala & Skadi - Rescued from Fur Farms 🦊 Meet Mala and Skadi, two beautiful silver foxes who’ve been thriving at our TIERART Wild Animal Sanctuary (@tierart.wildtierstation) since their rescue in November 2022. Despite their past in the cruel fur farming industry, these two have shown resilience, curiosity, and an inspiring zest for life. 🦊✨ From the moment they arrived, Mala and Skadi surprised us with their friendly and inquisitive nature—something truly remarkable given their history of suffering at the hands of humans. As soon as they had the opportunity, they began expressing their natural behaviours, like digging, hiding food, and exploring their environment. 🕳️ One of their favourite activities is burying food. It’s often hilarious to see one of them carefully hide a treat, like a piece of meat or an egg, then notice the other watching. In an instant, the treat is dug up and re-hidden somewhere else, leading to a playful game that can go on for hours! 🍖🥚 When they are not playing or being kept busy by the animal caretakers through regular positive reinforcement training, you’ll find them relaxing on raised platforms, digging cool spots under the trees, or snuggling in their cosy straw-filled hutches. They’ve even shown a love for enrichment toys—Skadi couldn’t wait to stick her whole head into a Halloween pumpkin and roll it around, while Mala cautiously observed before joining in. 🎃🦊 Sadly, not all foxes are as lucky. 💔 Millions remain trapped in fur farms, living in cramped wire cages, unable to dig, play, or even walk properly. This leads to severe health problems and unimaginable suffering. Mala and Skadi remind us why fur farming must end. Say NO to fur—remember, even the smallest amount of fur like fur trimmings and linings on clothes means animals have suffered. ❌🧥 Together, we can create a world where animals like Mala and Skadi can live free and happy lives in a #FurFreeFuture. 🌍✨ #EndFurFarming #WearitKind #EthicalFashion #StopAnimalCruelty #AnimalRights

🐑 Bouncing bundles of fluff living their best lives at @edgarsmission. These lucky lambs spend their days doing what lambs do best - hopping, skipping, and spreading happiness everywhere they go. (Seriously, try watching this without smiling... impossible!) These bouncing bundles of joy show us what every lamb deserves - a happy life without pain. Sadly, over 10 million lambs in Australia endure the cruel practice of live lamb cutting (mulesing) every year. Did you know that 60% of wool comes from farms where lambs endure cruel live lamb cutting? Let's change that! Let's #BanLiveLambCutting. 🚫 Breaking Barriers in Vietnam: A Nation Unites for Change The tide is turning in Vietnam, where an unprecedented movement is reshaping cultural norms. A powerful wave of over 250,000 local Vietnamese voices has joined the global chorus of 2 million+ calling for an end to the dog and cat meat trade. 🇻🇳 The numbers tell a devastating story: 5 million dogs and 1 million cats fall victim to this trade annually in Vietnam alone. But hope is rising. This week in Hanoi, a high-level meeting brought together health experts, policymakers, and advocates under the One Health Partnership for Zoonoses Control to tackle this pressing issue. 🏛️ Why it matters: ❗ Public health risks remain a critical concern 🌟 Vietnamese citizens are leading the charge for change 🔍 Traditional practices are being reexamined in modern #Vietnam Action against the dog and cat meat trade is growing, and we will continue fighting to #ProtectMillions until this trade ends. #EndDogCatMeatTrade #AnimalWelfare #FOURPAWS

Amazing News for Greyhounds! 🎉🐾 The Aotearoa New Zealand government has announced it will BAN greyhound racing to protect the welfare of racing dogs. This is a huge victory for animal welfare! Congratulations to all New Zealand animal advocates who made this happen. 👏💛 It has been reported that the legislation will be passed urgently to prevent any unnecessary killing of racing dogs as the ban takes effect. Once before in NSW we got a ban, but the industry was given another chance and millions of tax-payer dollars to clean up its act. It’s time for Australia to follow suit. Greyhound racing is cruel, exploitative, and outdated. For too long, greyhounds have suffered for profit and entertainment. Despite promises to reform, animals are still suffering and dying. Join us and raise your voice for them! 💌 Take action: Write to your State Minister for Racing and tell them that YOU care about greyhound in Australia and will not stand for them to continue to suffer. 🌐 Read more about New Zealand’s ban: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-10/greyhound-racing-to-be-banned-in-new-zealand/104708888 #AnimalWelfare #BanGreyhoundRacing #DogsDeserveBetter #Australia #FOURPAWS

🚨🆘 Ongoing food distributions amidst Lebanon crisis! 🆘🚨 The situation in Lebanon continues to be very challenging for humans and animals alike. While we had to leave the area, we made sure to organise animal food as well as people who can distribute it. Our partners are tirelessly working to make sure the animals at least have something to eat amidst all the terror. 🥣 Even though terms such as “easy” or “normal” do not exist in war zones, things have been going relatively frictionless considering the circumstances. The situation is extremely dire however, as our partner teams could experience first-hand during their trip to South Lebanon last week. Most of the animals they encountered were terrified by the bombing noises all around them. Just imagine how scared your dog is during fireworks, tucked away under some blankets in the safety of his home – now picture him hiding between wracked buildings and actual bombs falling from the sky... 💥 For security reasons, only cell phone photos were allowed. Despite the challenges on ground, together with your incredible support, we are helping as many animals as we can... including dog Bichon who was found injured and on his own. 👆 Tap on our Stories today to learn what happened to dog Bichon 💌 Donate now to keep our work for stray cats and dogs going ➡️ LINK IN BIO

The Difference You Make for Homeless Cats! 🐈🌟 In Bangkok, large numbers of stray animals roam Wat That Thong Temple, cared for by monks and the community. For many local communities, access to vaccinations 💉 and desexing are unaffordable and unavailable. Your support helped change this for the cats at the temple. Through a free two-day mobile clinic 🚑 last year, cats were vaccinated, desexed and given health checks with local partners @LantaAnimalWelfare + Bangkok Cat Society. Initially, only 8% of the cats were desexed before the clinic. Our specialised team deployed our Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return method, and at the same time trained local partners to increase veterinary education in the region 👩‍⚕️. The clinic was a huge success, with 76% of the population desexed. Because of people like you, these cats are now happier and healthier! Please consider a kind donation today, to help our mobile clinic reach more cats and improve their lives through treatments like these 🐈 🌟 DONATE NOW 👉 LINK IN BIO 📸 © FOUR PAWS | Tulika Kim #StrayAnimalCare #straykitten #rescuekitten #rescuecats

#KarachiElephants 💔🐘 We are in shock and heartbroken about the sudden death of elephant Sonia at Karachi Safari Park. This past weekend, her animal caretakers found her lifeless in her enclosure in the early hours. The cause of her death is still unknown. The night before, around 10pm, Sonia seemed well and was eating in the night enclosure. A detailed post-mortem was conducted today by pathologists from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore. Just a fortnight ago, the three elephant sisters had a heartwarming reunion when Madhubala was moved to the Safari Park to join Sonia and Malika after 15 years of separation. Madhubala and Malika remain in good health despite this tragic loss. Please rest assured that we will keep you updated, but for now, we must await the post-mortem test results, which are expected at the start of next week. Based on the autopsy’s results the treatment of the two remaining elephants will be potentially adjusted. Sonia was a gentle and brave soul. She was the first to step into the newly expanded enclosure and the first to greet Madhubala at their reunion. She will be deeply missed by her sisters and by all of us who were touched by her story. 🌈💕🐘 📸: © FOUR PAWS | Hristo Vladev

Meet Michal - the three-legged bear who went from concrete prison to paradise! 🐻✨ Bear Michal was born in captivity in 2003 at Braniewo zoo in Poland. Before his rescue, he was kept under terrible conditions. His enclosure was only 60 square metres and he spent his days sitting on a concrete floor. At three years old, Michal lost his foreleg in a fight with another bear at the zoo. Displaying severe behavioural issues, he was limbing in circles for hours. 💔 When FOUR PAWS rescued him from the zoo in September 2011, Michal was 8 years old. And 13 years later, look at him now! 💕 Despite his disability, Michal proves resilience has no limits. He loves swimming, digging holes and playing with branches or sticks. Michal is just a playful, happy bear who enjoys life to the fullest at our sanctuary. 💫 #SaveTheSaddestBears #AnimalRescue . . . #RescueBear #WildlifeRescue #BearSanctuary #AnimalWelfare #FOURPAWS #SaveTheBears #BearRescue #WildlifeProtection #WildlifeRehab #WildlifeRehabilitation
