A grand reception room in this stunning Grade II listed Belgravia townhouse. The brief was to stay sympathetic to the building itself, with a comfortable but elegant style to suit the needs of the owner. For my bathroom in Suffolk I aimed to create a space that felt light and airy yet personalised. On the shelves are my collection of Delft tiles, which beautifully complement the room’s historical feel. Few tiles are as distinctive as Delft, with their characteristic blue and white designs telling a story from everyday life. Our Suffolk home, dating back to 16th century, is a place that feels charming and relaxed, elegant but not too precious. Over the years, we've collected most of our furniture from auction houses and antique centres, creating a genuine and lived-in space. Each piece has been carefully chosen, adding to the home's character. Including these two lovely armchairs I inherited they held so much meaning and I thought they fitted so well next to this fireplace, that I had a second matching one made. In every design we create, we are conscious and keen on clients using existing furniture that feels meaningful to them, whether re-purposing or blending each item in. This week I re-visited the home of a client in South West London where we were asked to create a fun entertaining bar space. I was reminded of just how stunning this beautiful wallpaper from @mindtgap is ❤️ Inspired by the elegance of traditional Japanese byōmindthegapbu screens, it showcases intricate motifs of birds and blossoms and elevates the space. It’s so joyful against the red lacquer bar cabinets, and most importantly, the client was delighted with the finished result. This lovely shot by @paul_massey, is of my living room in Suffolk. Recently shot for @houseandgardenuk. The ‘craft linen’ Pierre Frey curtains always bring such a lively charm. I especially love how it looks next to the hand painted vintage Colefax and Fowler lampshade. The glass lamp, by Emsie Sharp, adds a special touch to the room. Emsie’s work is known for its bold colors, intricate trapped bubbles, and sculptural forms, drawing inspiration from the Georgian era’s embrace of natural imperfections. Her attention to detail and the almost magical process she describes as “alchemy” gives each piece a distinctive, handcrafted elegance that elevates any space. Looking into the dining room from the Butler’s pantry these striking Clifton Blue @papersandpaints cupboards stand out. In order to create an intimate setting for a dinner party we wrapped the walls in a natural grass cloth from @phillipjeffrieslondon adding a rich layer of texture. The oak table, custom-designed by @baringfurniture, sets the stage for informal gatherings. A bold, monochromatic steel chandelier from @howelondon adds a statement touch. We love how the sunlight streams through into the space, highlighting the @guygoodfellowcollection upholstered fabric on the @madebybenchmark dining chairs. This week, we loved reading in @houseandgardenuk a delightful article by Eve Delaney on stylish stair runners, which featured this entrance hallway from my London mews flat. A centrepiece for the hallway is the Patricia Anne wallpaper from @libertylondon and it is one of my most admired features in the flat. With its rich, detailed design inspired by Indian chintz patterns, it always draws compliments.
