Bonham Gallery is proud to announce our collaboration with esteemed designers Draga and Aurel @DragaandAurel here in Australasia. Established in 2007 by Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow, Draga and Aurel, is a multidisciplinary studio and workshop for art, collectible design, and furnishing pieces. Armed with a diversified background in art, fashion, and craftsmanship, Draga and Aurel are widely known for harnessing resin and combining original methods with an artistic approach to materials and composition. Pioneers in upcycling in the design sector, they began their journey by reinventing vintage furniture and objects in their own style and shaping the first Deshabillé and Heritage collections. In 2019, the couple staggered the crowds at Milano Design Week with a new personal project: the Transparency Matters collection, which explores the use and the possibilities of transparency, always related to lights and colours phenomena. From its launch, the studio has continued to develop the collections, gaining more popularity and a broad international following. Between art and design, Transparency Matters collectible design works find the perfect display in the most prestigious international galleries. The collection featured here includes the following sequence: Frecuencia Chairs (2024), The Frecuencia Chairs are built from a single silhouette and intention, they introduce subtle variations in height and length, providing both structure and a sense of rhythm. Gear Desk (2024) Inspired by the structural quality of honeycomb cardboard, The Gear Desk materializes the aleatory vertical patterns along the edges, creating a sculptural expression. Shifting Parabola IV (2024) The Shifting Parabola IV offers a dynamic interplay of light and form as a large-scale luminous sculpture that adapts to the space it inhabits. Gear Side Tables V and VI (2024) The Gear Side Tables are constructed out of cast aluminium with aged finish and cast polished bronze with patina finish. The honeycomb-shaped cardboard grid is the source of inspiration, when cut into irregular shapes it reveals aleatory vertical patterns along the edges, creating a sculptural expression.
