The series delves into the echoes of resource exploitation and colonial pursuits across Africa. Through a blend of self-portraiture and collage, @oghobaseabraham challenges Eurocentric narratives and highlights the exhaustion of Africa’s resources—both natural and human. Visit us to discover Abraham Oghobase’s groundbreaking work. Art Twenty One is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm. #AbrahamOghobase #ArtTwentyOne #10YearsofATO

👁️ Immerse yourself in Namsa Leuba (@namsaleuba)’s Acrobats series, featured in the group exhibition - ‘Prelude: A Decade of Art Twenty One’. Acrobats is part of Namsa Leuba’s larger series, Ya Kala Ben, which the artist executed in 2011 in Guinea Conakry. As Ya Kala Ben explores the rituals and customs of her mother’s native country, Acrobats profiles local Guinean acrobats who perform at different local ceremonies. While the subjects perform for the camera, Leuba pays attention to the curves and contours of their bodies, as well as their clothing, tattoos and hair. Using a stripe-colored tarp as a makeshift backdrop. Acrobats is as much an exploration in design as it is a documentary portrayal of its sitters. Prelude: A Decade of Art Twenty One is on view till the 20th of January, 2024. We are open Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am - 5pm. #NamsaLeuba #ArtTwentyOne #10yearsofATO

Discover the work of Beninois artist, Dominque Zinkpè (@atelierzinkpe), in “Prelude: A Decade of Art Twenty One”. Dominique Zinkpè recently received a special mention at this year’s Loewe Foundation Craft Prize (@loewefoundation). His multidisciplinary practice is informed by the rich historical and cultural transitions of his native Benin, while addressing issues related to race, religion, sexuality, spirituality and mythology. In the exhibition, Zinkpè’s work titled ‘Palais Royal (2013)’, features intricately detailed wooden statuettes, carved from individual pieces of wood and placed within a wooden frame. Drawing on the Yoruba belief that twins hold special significance and powers, each figurine recalls the tradition of families creating an Ibéji figurine when a twin dies in infancy to represent the soul of the deceased in physical form so it can continue to be cared for on earth. ‘Prelude: A Decade of Art Twenty One’ is on view till the 20th of January, 2024. Art Twenty One opens Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am to 5pm. #DominiqueZinkpe #ArtTwentyOne #10yearsofATO
