We plan, God laughs. Early last fall I had the opportunity to go on a solo business planning getaway for the upcoming 2024 year. The 2024 plan consisted of a whole social media calendar + lifestyle recipes & project photo shoots, brand collaborations and features with a handful of publications. That plan was quickly put to a halt and I’m ok with it! Here’s why. Shortly after that planning getaway I was diagnosed with melanoma and then a few months later a second melanoma spot was found. Both were small but a lot of appointments ensued and large incisions were done in addition to 4 other abnormal ones that required large incisions. In February Dan returned from a yearly snowmobile trip to Montana. He’s been going for 30 years so nothing out of the ordinary until he woke up a day later with leg pain that suddenly transferred to his chest. A trip to the ER found a large clot in his leg that was breaking apart and moving up to his lungs….pulmonary embolism. Further testing showed a congenital heart defect (a hole in his heart). Having this in addition to the clots can allow clots to transfer more easily to the brain….hence higher stroke risk. A round of blood thinners for 3 months have put us back to normal life and we are doing good + a forced restart and slow down that has felt really good. We are about 3 months out from all of this and we are enroute to his follow up at Mayo today where they have appointments scheduled all day to hopefully get a final game plan. Doctors are hopeful it was a fluke from the long drive from the mountains but will know more today! Adorned is only taking on larger but less projects right now. More time for our family and recovery. This has given extra time to focus on each project plus the time need for our investments that I manage. A client once told me after I had been talking about a rental property we owned that wasn’t my favorite “you have to consider your quality of life first.” Money second. We sold that property & bought the studio, the studio has allowed more flexibility with my work schedule & more time for the kids. Seems like God is leading us towards a better quality of life. Whichever way that path takes us🤍

The most beautiful feature of a landscape is a lake. The most beautiful feature of this primary suite is the lake view! The Dellwood Lake Home project on White Bear was a full furnishing dream, more like a retreat than a project! We love a big renovation but it’s the textiles & furnishings that really grab our attention. In the primary, we focused on soft neutrals to match the serene lake views while adding a bit of classic style with the 4 poster bed comprised of walnut wood + gold + shagreen.
