“Everyone is different in a way... It’s normal to be different.” #ListenUp In the womb, Stephanie was meant to develop male. But an issue with her adrenal glands reversed the process. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (or CAH) is a group of conditions that affects these glands and how they regulate hormones such as cortisol, aldosterone and androgens (male sex hormones). The effects of CAH vary significantly from person to person, depending on the type of CAH. Intersex is an umbrella term for over 30 different conditions. For some, intersex features are noticeable from birth, while others don’t realise until they try for children. Secret Science (Fertility) — Stream now on ABC iview. #Health #Intersex #LGBTQIA

Mandy* used to relish going out to see live music, but that joy was taken away from her when someone spiked her drink with opiates earlier this year.   So unwell her partner *Anne feared she might die, Mandy was taken to hospital.   Despite Anne’s attempts to tell ambulance officers she hadn’t had much alcohol, the three drinks Mandy had consumed that night were recorded as many more.   Mandy is one of many women who have told the ABC they feel let down by drink spiking testing processes and a societal culture of doubting victims. 📰To read the full story by Emma Pollard, head to the ABC website.   *Names have been changed to protect privacy #ABCNewsQld #DrinkSpiking
