Lots of Instagrammers are having trouble with squirrels eating their tulip bulbs….. we planted over 600 last year..and we didn’t lose one…..the answer is wire mesh bent into the shape of the pot and a generous layer of 🌶️ flakes added….. the squirrels hate the smell… so they won’t attempt to even come near your pots…they won’t touch your narcissus…its tulips they love! The best of luck…last year’s containers!

The lovely hydrangea continues to provide us with beautiful flowers and colourful leaves even in December; it truly is a remarkable shrub. I have a very high opinion of it, as it flowers for most of the year, its flowers dry easily, and they make wonderful Christmas decorations. I'm hoping to acquire more varieties; do you happen to have a favourite that you would recommend?

Should I start ginning these paperwhites? They are growing rather rapidly, and as this is is my first attempt at growing them....although I may regret it, as I am not fond of strongly scented flowers indoors; perhaps they would be better suited to the porch......to gin or not to gin? what do you think? #paperwhites #paperwhitebulbs #narcissus #christmasbulbs

This small border is a delightful addition to the garden, featuring two of my favourite ornamental grasses: Hakonechloa Nicholas and Sunflare. Our exquisite Feijoa sellowiana (pineapple guava) is bearing fruit! This aesthetically pleasing evergreen shrub, a member of the Myrtaceae family, yields edible flowers with a marshmallow-like flavor and fruit reminiscent of strawberry guava and pineapple, although I must admit I have not personally tasted either.....have you?
