📖September is Library Card Sign Up Month 📖 It’s not too late to start supporting your local library, and registering for your own card! I listen to many audiobooks, often they are from @libby.app , the app my local library, @fredricksenlibrary uses. As I add to the list there’s now always a book coming available to listen to while I work, walk, do chores, etc The library system has a great reciprocal program, you can request books from other branches, and they have wonderful programming supported by the Friends of the Library, including author meet and greets. Share what’s your favorite feature of your local library! Do you have a library card?

Wow, Tracey Lange is an autobuy author for me at this point. She writes poignant stories about families with real problems that completely shatter and emotionally hijack me. Thank you @celadonbooks for my early copy of @tracey_lange WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MCCRAYS? Publishing Jan 14, 2025. I have loved every single novel Lange has written and I loved this one as well. What Happened to the McCrays follows the McCray family (obvs) in a dual-timeline perspective and dual character POVS. These are not easy tasks to accomplish and she does it so well. The novel starts with Kyle and Casey, divorced and both carrying a heavy, intimate burden. We as readers don’t quite know what literally has “happened to the McCrays” but we walk along side them as they unpack life, young love, marriage, joy and heartache along with their dreams and aspirations. I enjoyed the hockey reprieve in the midst of the mystery and how this becomes a woven theme amidst their pain. Beautifully, beautifully done, ALL THE STARS, Tracey, what an amazing novel! There are some specific trigger warnings with this novel that could be upsetting, please reach out if you want to know more before approaching the novel. Mentions of suicide, death of a young child, divorce, mental health. #whathappenedtothemccrays #traceylange

I loved this multigenerational women’s lit, second-chance coming of age story! Claudine is a phenomenal skier, but has a strained relationship with her daughter, Wylie, an artist who tried to be a skier, but it didn’t quite work out. They have been estranged, yet come together in the Alps amidst an avalanche to meet some amazing side supporting characters and rebuild their relationship. So many times the storyline resonated with me, and I found myself laughing out loud at the hostel where they were staying. I loved that it covered many generations of people, included sports but wasn’t all about that, and the mystery of Wylie’s father. The characters weren’t perfect, and that made them feel so much more realistic. Highly recommend it! Thank you @zibbybooks for my early copy that I just dropped in a local #LFL! Spending this Advent season focusing on being intentional, in the book of Matthew, with @tabdeller ‘s NEAR Advent Study. It’s not too late to join me! Send me a DM and I will get you connected with the group. How are you doing this week, headed back to school and/or work? We are headed I to the darkest days of the year (literally shortest day of light is the 21st) and I am so thankful for the light Jesus shines!

Friendsgiving 2024 We missed a couple friends that came later, and we had a TON of delicious food! Highly recommend using Friendsgiving as a trial run for a new Thanksgiving dish you plan to make. 🤤 We all benefit! 😆 I had an o reflowing bag of books to drop at LFLs this weekend, and thankfully several friends took some to read so it lightened my load! Up next is FIVE FAVORITE THINGS CHRISTMAS PARTY 🎄 #friendsgiving #bookclub #chbc

This is a FASCINATING read as a woman, as an educator, as a person existing in this world. The book covers deep trauma, the effects, diagnosis, and treatments (some more effective than others). I can only at this point encourage you to read the book if you are interested at all in how trauma affects people, and how they navigate life post-traumatic events. Hope you are finding rest prior to Thanksgiving. Any big plans? #thebodykeepsthescore #traumainformed

A book club friend [Hi Jen! 👋 Thank you!] loaned me the Emily Wilde series, and I’m ready to send it down the road to the next neighbor that wants to read it! It’s like the sisterhood of traveling books in our town! I figured it would be productive to do this on a lunch run recently. 🏃♀️ 📚 Do you share books with neighborhood friends? #emilywilde #emilywildesencyclopaediaoffaeries #emilywildesmapoftheotherlands #fantasybooks

I have been a huge fan of KA Tucker’s writing since the days of TSW, and I’ve carried A DAWN OF GODS AND FURY on my night stand since it was released in September. It is chonky, it’s a tome, and it’s a beautiful ending to her fantasy series. ADOGAF is craftily written with Romeria and Zander’s chapter perspectives close together, along with Tyree and Annika, Sophie and Malachi. I enjoyed all of the characters and how Tucker takes on multiple perspectives with ease. Watch out for Malachi’s chapters (and Sophie’s with him in it)...they are dark. If you’re in the market for an indie, self-published fantasy series by a stellar author, then you should consider starting this one! This series would also make a great gift for a fantasy reader. Overly excited to see all of these smiling faces this evening for CHBC’s annual Friendsgiving! We’ve been a book club since 2018, and have been enjoying this tradition each year since then (any guesses which year was 2020? 😆) Sometimes we have a book, sometimes it’s book club w/o the book. Life’s busy this time of year, you know? The faces aren’t all the same, we’ve hugged some friends goodbye and welcomed new friends with open arms, but Friendsgiving is always one of my favorite traditions! Here’s to year 7 ladies! 😘 #chbc #camphillbookclub #friendsgiving #readerswhoeat

Can we talk about tropes, and those that really aren’t our favorites? What trope do you usually skip when it’s present in a novel? Why? For me, it’s miscommunication. This is NOT a strong foundation for a good relationship and I have a hard time getting into a story where characters can’t talk to each other. 🤷♀️ Speaking of “One-Star”… love the title this one! 😂 Thank you @prhaudio for my advanced audio copy of @laurakhankin new release, ONE-STAR ROMANCE, out now. I have read Happy and You Know It, as well as The Daydreamers, from Laura Hankin in the past and now I am sliding One-Star Romance onto my read shelf as well! The storyline starts with Nat, an aspiring author who uses her BFF’s new boyfriend as fodder for her novel. (ps: not cool) and Rob is the Angus’s BFF, so of course they are enemies at first sight, especially as they have to navigate maid of honor and best man for their bestie’s wedding. Nat really struggles with her friend being married, for a really long time (this was a sticking point for me). Rob is a mature adult and goes through some of his own struggles while planning his wedding. Meanwhile Nat meets up with a celeb who basically rockets her career as a screenwriter, while taking a tad bit of Rob’s advice from early on in the novel. The ending with Rob and Natt seemed a little too tied with a bow, Nat hurt a lot of characters but she seemed to get a pass when she shows up for her bestie in a true time of need. I liked all of the characters, honestly, except for Nat. There are a few content warnings: bullying (behind the back), cheating, and cancer. Reach out and I can clarify more deeply. #onestarromance #laurahankin
