ATHLETES! If You’re First Step Is Slow Try These Drills. The drills in this video cover acceleration and first step quickness. The Get Up- A classic acceleration drill. I like to begin training sessions with Get Ups or introduce them to new or younger athletes. It’s an easier way for these athletes to understand and feel the proper acceleration posture. Split Jump Start- This is a more advanced movement . The athlete must be able to jump high enough to create the 90/90 position at the ankles knee and hips. Upon landing on the ground the athlete is in a great 1/2 kneeling acceleration position. This teaches the athlete to drive off his or her front leg from the balls of the feet or the power position. Wall Drives- One of my favorites due to the immediate feedback. The athlete must drive off of the front /leg to elevate the rear leg. Failure to do so will elicit poor leg drive and minimal extension at the ankle knee and hip. KBand High Knee Runs- Our goal here is to increase ground contacts while minimizing ground contact time. Ideally I like to perform this movement with 1:1 ratio, one rep with the K Band one without. Give these a try if you’re looking for a powerful quick first step. Follow me to become that dominant athlete you desire to be. ⚾️🥎🏈ATHLETES. Be Quicker And Cover More Ground With The Hip Turn. The drop step is used in many different sports. It has a few different variations. In this video I go over the most efficient technique. The drop steps I see the most are the hop/jump and turn and the open the door technique. Both techniques work. The reason I recommend the hip turn is due to its efficiency. The hip turn does two things. 1. It breaks inertia by creating momentum. The athlete jab steps forward to move in the opposite direction. 2. It teaches the athlete to cover more ground by using sharp angles. In the video you see me jab step left to 11 o’clock and hip turn to the right to approximately 5 o’clock. This allows me to gain debts/ ground as I hip turn and sprint down turf. Watch the first two movements in the video this will give a you a visual of how the hip turn works. If you have questions drop them below. Remember to follow me to move like a D1 athlete. #baseballlove #softball #athlete #agility #footwork #sportsperformance

Resistance Band Speed Training should be in every athlete’s toolkit: • The Wall Drill with bands improves posture and teaches athletes to attack the ground behind the center of mass — a key to acceleration. • Resisted starts increase force production, helping you propel the body forward more explosively. • Resisted high knees target the hip flexors, a major factor in stride frequency and sprint mechanics. • Resisted arm action enhances sprint rhythm and overall running economy. Research shows that resisted sprint training can improve sprint performance by up to 10% when consistently used in a program (Petrakos et al., 2016). If you want to become more explosive off the line and build real game speed, don’t skip resistance band drills! TAG a teammate and SHARE this video if you’re serious about getting faster! Let’s build a community of athletes dedicated to mastering the details!
Mindset Monday: Follow this rule above all… NEVER give up on your dreams. Here’s why quitting should never be an option: • Setbacks are setups for comebacks • Progress takes time — success isn’t instant • If you give up, you gain nothing… but if you keep going, you stay in the fight • Champions are built through perseverance, not perfection Story time: One of my athletes was told he’d never start on varsity. Instead of quitting, he trained harder, dialed in his mindset, and proved everyone wrong — eventually earning a scholarship. Why? Because he never gave up on his dream. Follow me to master your mindset and become the athlete who refuses to fold. #MindsetMonday #NeverGiveUp #AthleteMindset #ChaseYourDreams
Athletes: Your brain is your most powerful muscle. When you truly believe in your potential, everything changes. This is neuroplasticity in action — your brain literally rewires itself to match the thoughts you feed it. Pair that with the subconscious mind, which controls up to 95% of your behavior (Dr. Bruce Lipton), and you’ve got a powerful combo. Studies show that visualizing success and repeating affirmations can activate the same brain regions as physical practice — improving real-world performance (Guillot et al., 2009). If you believe you’re fast, strong, and capable — and train your mind like you train your body — the results will follow. Had a full day of networking today. First I met with @tammy.leavitt.7 . At my favorite place the Local off of Windward. I think we spoke for about 2 hrs. The single best thing (PowerCore talk) I learned was her passion for Wellness and strong desire to help others. She’s a strong believer of Juice Plus. Next I went over to @r5_wellness And hung out with Chris Rece. As you’ll see his facility is beautiful . Single best thing- if you have an athlete or if you understand health is your true wealth. You need to step by @r5_wellness #alpharettaga #fitnessnetworking #miltonga #networkingopportunities
How to sprint faster Speed training warm up Here’s what you need to focus on: 🔥 Speed training warm-up – Prepares your muscles and nervous system for max output. 💥 Force production – More power in every stride means faster acceleration. ⚡ Reaction time – The quicker you respond, the faster you move. 🦵 Foot & ankle strength – A strong base improves explosiveness. 📈 Vertical force – Push the ground away HARD to generate top speed. 🚀 Acceleration – The key to getting ahead and staying ahead. Your Circle = Your Destiny Did you know that the company you keep can directly impact your performance? Key Insights: • Proximity Effect: Sitting within 25 feet of a low performer can decrease your own performance by 30%. • Emotional Contagion: Negative emotions are contagious and can hinder team dynamics and individual productivity. • Positive Influence: Surrounding yourself with high performers can elevate your own performance and mindset. Takeaway: Choose your circle wisely. The people around you can either lift you up or pull you down. #PerformanceMatters #ChooseWisely #PositiveVibes #ElevateYourself #SurroundYourself
Core Exercises to Get Faster Did you know core strength is a key factor in speed development? Research shows that a strong core enhances sprint performance by improving stability, proper posture, and energy transfer—all essential for explosive acceleration. Why Core Strength Matters for Speed: ✅ Improved Stability – A strong core prevents excessive movement, keeping you balanced and controlled while sprinting. Studies indicate that core stability reduces energy leaks, allowing for more efficient force application. ✅ Better Posture & Sprint Mechanics – Research from the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research shows that postural control directly affects sprinting form. A weak core leads to poor mechanics, reducing stride efficiency and speed. ✅ Efficient Energy Transfer – Speed isn’t just about leg strength. Core strength ensures force generated from the lower body transfers efficiently through the upper body, leading to powerful strides without wasted motion. Want to get faster? Add these 3 core exercises to your training and take your sprinting to the next level! @raygenlewis @macy.anne2 @kennediwhitee Hashtags: #CoreStrength #Stability #ProperPosture #EnergyTransfer #GetFaster
Why Athletes Must Master Consistency to Succeed The best athletes aren’t just talented—they’re consistent. Studies show that consistent training habits lead to long-term success, while inconsistency limits progress. Here’s why: 🔹 Skill Retention – A 2019 study found that repetitive practice strengthens neural pathways, making skills second nature. 🔹 Injury Prevention – Research shows athletes who train consistently have 50% fewer injuries than those with irregular training. 🔹 Mental Toughness – The best performers develop resilience and confidence through disciplined routines. 🔹 Steady Progression – Strength, speed, and endurance improve over time with habitual training, not random effort. Mastering consistency separates good athletes from great ones. Are you showing up daily? If you’re ready to own your consistency drop a 💯 in the comments!
