Today we participated in the final voting session of the #SeoulDesignAward (we are once again jury member). Let me anticipate, we are very happy about the procedure and that most of our beloved projects made it into the shortlist. We believe you’ll be surprised by the quality and diversity of the winning projects. About the ELEPHANT FOOTPRINT seat for NOT COMPROMISED Many ask us why we started our first exhibition and public dialogue event with Boonserm Premthada. @boonserm_premthada Before launching the initiative, we have been designers, art directors, manufacturers and founders of the world’s first online magazine. Under our direction of @designboom, we published 15 articles on his work. We were the first to ‘talk about him’ in 2013 - and it’s 10 years after that we started this collaboration! #BoonsermPremthada has been recipient of @THEDESIGNPRIZE 2021|22 in the category ‘Social Impact’, just after he presented at the 2021 #VeniceArchitectureBiennale. The Thai pavilion explored what architecture can learn from the relationship between elephants and the Kuy people — an ethnic group in Thailand’s Tha Tum district. ‘Changes have affected the villages of people and elephants over the centuries, what never changed with time, however, is the inseparable bond between the two’, stated the curatorial team, led by #ApiradeeKasemsook. @apikasemsook has also been part of the #NOTCOMPROMISED exhibition during Milan Design Week. #BoonsermPremthada is responsible for designing #ElephantWorld — a government funded initiative that includes a museum, a flexible events and recreation space, and an observation tower. The complex provides a source of stable income for the Kuy people as well as the region’s elephants. An elephant consumes a large amount of food, and, with more than 200 elephants in the community, tonnes of elephant dung are produced each day.
