I had the opportunity of presenting on National and International TV the arrival of The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran His Excellency Dr. Ebrahim Raisi on behalf of Sri Lanka at The Mattala International Airport. President Raisi made his visit to hand over the Uma Oya Multi-Purpose Development Project to the public on the invitation of The Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe. At the airport, President Raisi was welcomed by The Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena. Proud to say that whatever was Broadcast regarding the arrival on any media channel locally and internationally was done Live through ITN. The last two days were extremely challenging for the entire crew physically due to the extreme heat. Behind every live broadcast you see on TV, it’s an immense amount of work that goes on, behind the scenes that should be appreciated. It was momentous representing ITN alongside Senior Veteran Presenter and Journalist Mr. Sampath Bandara. Completing 4 years in the broadcasting industry and almost two years on TV. I’ve been doing the morning news belt and opening transmission, which means I leave the house at odd hours of the morning at like 3am everyday. I’ve been juggling two demanding jobs, a full time degree, and events. These snippets you see, are only what you see on TV but what you don’t see is that there is no consistent sleep pattern, sometimes I have zero energy, showing up at work regardless of assignments and extra work and much more. Plus, the amount of responsibility and tension that comes with pulling off a live broadcast is not easy at all. But here’s the thing : I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT AND I WILL NEVER HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY ! The Parliamentary General Elections 2024 On the Official State Broadcasting Channels of TV and Radio! Over 24 hours of marathon live broadcasting (quite literally). From Live Television ➡️ Live Reporting and coverage ➡️ Live on Radio ➡️ Election Duty till the next morning 🤌🏻. Each and every result or comment which was aired came with immense responsibility especially as state presenters, therefore I take great pride in saluting everyone I worked with On TV and Radio, because non stop broadcasting is not easy for those on/off set!
