From Visions to Vistas | Verandah House⁠ ⁠ Inspired by regional Greek-Revival homes, the Verandah House merges classical elements with vernacular touches. The lot is situated directly across from an impressive Oak Allée lined with a double row of 18th century Live Oaks laden with Spanish Moss. While not within the confines of the lot, this natural element was considered in the design process. The Family Wellness Barn, adjacent to a large agricultural reserve in Bridgehampton, New York, is the activity center of a multi-generational estate. From Visions to Vistas | Idaho Homestead⁠ ⁠ Looking to the future but desiring a remembrance of their past, our clients wanted their new home to capture the distinct regional charms of the various places they had once lived. The resulting design for this Hailey, Idaho home reflects the importation of New England and Southern influences. The dormers, for example, are based on the traditional Revival homes of the South, while the stone on the main mass is a nod to the primitive barns and buildings that dot the Pennsylvania countryside. This home at @balsammountainpreserve is a refreshing departure from the rustic log and beam architecture that is prevalent in the region, instead incorporating softer details and architectural nuances from the Northeast. The design team was inspired by the gracious summer retreats that emerged in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, built by families of means seeking to escape oppressive summers. These homes were of a higher style, marrying the Greek Revival and Federal styles of more cosmopolitan settings with indigenous and native materials found in the mountains.
