There are several types of ablative procedures (where tissue is removed) in the medical aesthetics industry… from Plasma Fibroblast, to erbium lasers, to CO2 lasers. 2 week progress photo. You read that correctly… that lower photo was taken ONLY 2 WEEKS after her periorbital Plasma Fibroblast treatment. 🤯 Unbelievable, right?! This treatment is always the most impressive on people who have that really thin, crepey skin that “sticks” when you pinch it. That’s why it works so well around the eyes. Sure, you can do this treatment on the entire body, but the biggest wow is on thin skin. I do so many of these this time of year because it is easier for people to hide from the sun. This treatment is no joke. There is a lot of swelling around the eyes and you will look like a monster for 7 to 10 days. For those who don’t drink a lot of water, the healing time can be closer to 2 weeks. But if you are looking for a one and done treatment that can safely treat the eyelids without ocular shields and is more customizable than a CO2 laser, this is the treatment for you. Also, and I cannot stress this enough... carefully do your research on providers offering this service. It should be a licensed, medical provider using an FDA cleared pen with a whole lot of training. This treatment is no joke and is not yet being properly regulated by the FDA. If you see someone online that says that they are a “licensed” or “certified” Plasma Fibroblast “technician” or “provider,” that doesn’t mean anything. You can get licensed online over a weekend with some cheap device purchased off eBay and have zero education on the skin. It should be a MEDICAL provider working under a MEDICAL DIRECTOR who has been properly trained with an FDA cleared plasma pen. Day 9 comes with cuteness overload as we touch on RF Microneedling. I reserve this treatment for those with thicker skin who need more of a “foundational lift.” I find this procedure to be a tad better for spot treating and contouring areas that need some deeper injuries, such as the lower cheeks and submentum. I oftentimes combine this treatment with Fractional Laser Resurfacing to get the best of both worlds. On Day 8, Perimenopause gets an honorable mention. Why? Because during the 5 to 10 years of perimenopause, you lose 3 to 5% of collagen a year instead of the usual 1% a year. Why? Because estrogen is leaving the building and without a good supply of estrogen, it’s hard to build collagen. On the 7th day, we evaporate tissue. Oh Plasma Pen, how I love thee. We call this little device a magic eraser. Not only can it tighten/lift the skin, it also removes all sorts of lesions like skin tags, sun spots, fibromas, sebaceous hyperplasias, seborrheic keratosis, and bad attitudes. It is extremely precise and can treat very small targets, like a scar from an incision. One of my favorite things about it is the ability to treat the EYELID without ocular shields. On Day 6, we get rid of hair in places we don’t want it. For the record, body hair is beautiful and serves many purposes, but if it bothers you, we have a solution. And as long as the hair is darker than the skin, you’re a good candidate for laser hair removal. And FYI, if you want to be a hairless seal by the summer, you need to start the hair removal treatments now, because most treatments are spaced 6-8 weeks apart and the average person needs 5-8 of them. On Day 4 we peel our faces off. Oh how I LOVE The Perfect Derma Peel. This peel is quite popular this time of year because it’s such a quick fix. And most people only need 1 treatment to see incredible results, though it can be done in a series if you want to go crazy. It can be done on ALL skin types.
