Our partnership with the military stretches back over 100 years and today on #ArmedForcesDay, and everyday, we work alongside our Armed Forces to use our unique capabilities to protect personnel and equipment. GCHQ was formed at the end of the First World War in 1919 to support the military. Since then, GCHQ has worked to support operations with intelligence from the UK and on deployment by their side #SupportOurTroops

As we mark Pride month, across our organisation, we are focusing on 'everyday allyship'. Allyship is something that we can all do, and consider in everything that we do - at home, in the office and in our daily life. We asked our brilliant Pride & Pride Allies network for some of the everyday examples that can make a difference.

It was great to be a part of our @CyberHQ’s #CYBERUK25 in Manchester this month, during which Anne Keast-Butler, Director GCHQ met with a group of inspirational women from all over the world, to have breakfast and to discuss the future of cybersecurity. The Women in Cyber breakfast event was attended by more than 50 women leading the way in the world of technology, from universities, governments and big companies from the worlds of defence, banking and technology. While the event was fun, there were also serious discussions taking place about common adversaries, the importance of global partnerships and how countries all around the world are working together to defeat them. Director GCHQ said; “I was honoured to be invited to the event and it was a privilege to meet so many inspirational women. “We live in a world where cyber threats are fast-evolving and, as we’ve seen in recent weeks, can affect anybody. However, I’m optimistic – at this at this event I spoke to some brilliant women doing brilliant work. “I’m also pleased that Manchester has cemented itself as a centre of cyber excellence.” The breakfast event was part of CyberUK, an event organised by the National Cyber Security Centre, which is part of GCHQ. The event was held in Manchester and was attended by some of the top people from the worlds of technology and security, who met to trade tools, insights and ideas.

The National Cyber Force (NCF) is a key partnership between defence and intelligence, which includes the @ministryofdefence, @GCHQ, @ukstrategiccommand, @Dstlmod and the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). The NCF, in association with @in4group and @lancasteruni's Cyber Security team, hosted a hackathon – a series of rapid and collaborative computer engineering challenges – for CyberFirst Bursary and STEM university students from across the North West last week. Over two days, participants put their technical, inventive problem-solving and teamwork skills to the test. They were challenged to design a secure smart-home solution - a crucial task in an era of evolving cyber threats. Beyond the hands-on competition, attendees gained invaluable insights through a panel discussion with industry experts and a lunch and learn session on quantum encryption and AI, exploring its future role in cyber defence. A fantastic showcase of emerging cyber talent, tackling today’s challenges to secure the digital world of tomorrow!
