NEW WORKSHOP: Saturday, 3/28 1pm - 5pm | Ever wondered how those mind-bending 3D illusions on downtown billboards are made? Join Atlanta-based artist Eddie Farr @freaughouse for a hands-on workshop exploring anamorphic projection, bring your own laptop and we’ll explore the technique behind the perspective-bending animations recently unveiled across @downtownatlanta in collaboration with ATL DTN and @orange_barrel_media In this beginner-friendly, artist-focused workshop, Eddie will walk participants through the process of creating anamorphic projections using @blender.official - a free 3D animation platform used by artists and studios around the world. Participants will learn: • The basics of navigating Blender • How artists design perspective-based illusions • Keyframe animation fundamentals • How to export a finished projection animation No prior 3D experience required. 🗓 Saturday, March 28 ⏰ 1:00 PM – 5 PM 👤 Ages 18+ 🎟 FREE WITH RSVP Swipe through to see BTS examples of Eddie’s recent digital public art installations in Downtown Atlanta. SUNDAY VR FUN DAY! Sunday’s part 2 of the Public Art Futures Lab Create Your VR World is 11AM - 1PM. Check the link in our bio for info - if you signed up for part 1 you’re automatically in for today’s class - don’t forget your laptop! Last week @xrdojo and @vectormaestros helped attendees use the design platform to explore other built spaces. Then we worked through ways to generate 3D images or curate GLB/GTLF files from open source platforms to build a a VR space that others can visit. Students came with ideas and in this final class we’ll see concepts come to life - some hope to create online galleries to share their work in an immersive setting others want to create a rendering of a concept for a brick and mortar business idea, or just build out a custom video conference room for taking meetings virtually. Today we step things up a notch - incorporating Unity and exploring coding in these VR spaces to create responsive, interactive experiences! If you can’t make this one be sure to follow us for future workshops!
